As others have said, an avenger is going to be too much for a beginner.

X - XL. For a beginner, even the Z is a little overstable, but the X is nice and straight. I haven't found a Pro-D XL in a plastic that I like very much, but I carry one of those as well for turnover shots. I cover all my fairway shots with those three discs.
