Well, thanks for the help anyway. I think I know what you're describing.

These characteristics hold true for all discs. That is why many players can just hold a disc and tell if it is good or not.

I bought a blue z avenger at 173g hoping for same results as my x avenger... feels like a different disc. It's definitely overstable, it's mildly opaque. I already had an overstable driver at that speed didn't need another. Mine is slightly domey, not flat. I just picked one up in a decent weight, did notice two things about the avengers. 3 of em were super light and flat, and the rest were mildly domey and heavy. I found one in the mild not so much dome.

The avengers that I throw are the older batwing stamped ones. They are overstable enough for what I use them for. However I do have a couple that will turn but that is because they are worn in some.

I love Avengers. I have most every plastic of the mold. I really like my 161 X. I can make it turn like an A.SS yet fades back like an avenger should. I have three light weight and three that are in the 172 range you like. The lighter ones (X, Z, ESP) are easy to turn and control with very good distance. Only exception being the 159 ESP...its still very new and flat like my 172 FLX. The heavier ones (FLX, ESP, Z) are more stable, yet get the same distances for me. I am reaching a consistant 350-400ft.

If you like X try a heavier X or get a doomy ESP. The Z's are the longest but the ESP are the best combo of distance, workability, and grip.

Also if the PD is to be a better Avenger, give that a try as well. I never have but really enjoy my Avengers.

I bought a Z Avenger and an X Avenger. I love them both dearly. I used them today (well, just the X one since it's still new and I don't need the Z one yet), and I had my first round shot under par.

I haven't really thrown the Z that much since I'm trying to break in my X first, but it seems to fly about the same as my new X. However, when I sidearm the X Avenger I can get a little bit of turn; the Z Avenger doesn't turn, which is perfect.

The X will beat in to a more stable Avenger SS with more fade. The Z's will eventually get some turn before they fade. I get my 172 esp and z to turn a bit on my sidearm shots. I throw each back hand with a touch of anhyzer to help get extra trun. What weights did you decide on?

I stuck with 170-172. That's what my other Avenger is, and I know it's a good weight for me.

Just to clarify, I plan to use my Z Avenger for overstable shots, my new X Avegner for regular drives, my beat X Avenger for turnovers and hyzer-flips, and my Z Avenger SS for rollers (as soon as I figure out how to throw a roller reliably haha). The Z Avenger SS is the only disc that's not 170-172. If I remember correctly, it's a 166.
