This is a bit of a feels not reals story, but I think I've made a stride in keeping the shoulders upright and stacked. Instead of trying to rotate the shoulders square, I'm trying to rotate the front shoulder over the rear shoulder. Because the rear shoulder feels more underneath, it seems ready to go forward with less effort. The results on film seem much more square/level than what I feel like I'm doing.
