This is the deal. Anytime I travel for golf it’s gonna be relatively far cuz I live in BFE. The group I travel with a bit does a great job of reaching out to clubs, owners and caretakers about conditions. We often find they’ll beef it up a touch before we get there or give us beta on the prime time to play. Most that know about DGCR or care about people enjoying their course dont want a group that traveled just to play their courses to have a bad experience. And the worst that happens is you decide on a different destination if it sound iffy.

I tend to agree. I love RR (bar), but I like the golf a touch better at Stoney and Wilderness.

Yep, pretty much same here. We were heading to the smoky mountains and had time to stop at one course along the way. I had it narrowed down to Coyote Trace (RIP) and Holler in the Hills. If I remember right, Coyote Trace closed just before I had to finalize the plan. It's a shame; it sounded like a great course. I had talked to a friendly, older-sounding lady when I called the phone number for Holler. She assured me the course was still open and I was welcome to stop by and play.

We had a great round at Holler. I was grateful for the opportunity to play it. It's absolutely in my top 10; if not top 5.

I'm sure we're talking about the same guy. Just gave off a sketchy vibe. I'd still go back in a heartbeat; even without the change in ownership. There are some amazing holes on that property.

But yeah, I can't really say Harmony Bends shouldn't be Dgcr #1, right!?

It's one of those Courses like (Blueberry Hill): everyone has their different favorite holes, cause the Land/Design just has something for everybody

Also... Stoney Creek

Pro traveler tip - if maintenance conditions are iffy, find out when tournaments are being held and play it or soon after, or early spring. This year at FV it's Oct 1-2.

I updated some pictures from this past Labor Day weekend with foliage:

Actually, I totally F-ed up and got Frost Valley confused with Mine Kill!! We played four courses that weekend and my memory sucks soooo... apologies to FV peoples. FV was a little unkempt, but nothing crazy and, while not in my top 5, it may be top 30, maybe higher if I really had to come up with a list. At some point it got hard to come up with a top 10, now I just refer to the courses I list as favorites.

I could go either way depending on the day.
