I understand your argument, and well, agree with it.

The reason I stated what I did was three reasons.

1. The TD report also has a "manual adjustment" option under payout. I don't think this would be a feature if it wasn't an option.
2. I've always adjusted numbers to a much more flat payout and never once been asked about it.
3. When I ran US Masters, I did the payout with the tour manager, Andrew Sweeton. I asked if I could flatten the numbers and do it manually and he said basically what I did above - as long as it's 40%, yes.
