Inevitably, we'll create Pro 2 for pros under 1000, and 940 rated players will play, and call the 980s baggers. "Go Pro1!", they'll cry.

Agreed, but one could hope...

Or, they could just put a cap rating on C-tiers...

What bout non-touring local pros that are over 1000? You just gonna give those guys the heave ho? In my area over the last few years, there have been at least 3 or 4 guys over 1k at various times... Should they not be allowed to play ctiers in that area?

For that matter, what is local? 10mi, 50?

Also, can we get better players?
This makes no sense. My job has taken me all over the country and I play disc golf everywhere and I have never been in an area where this has been a problem, even in the few PA events that I have played in. Im in West Virginia right now and where I am there is hardly anybody that can compete with me, but that doesnt stop anyone from trying. We all have a great time when we play together no matter what.

If you are one of those fringe pros that is complaining that better pros are taking your money then you are probably delusional in the first place. Being a fringe pro my whole career, there has never been a time where I wouldnt play an event because the competition was too good.

Its pretty simple, if you dont want to get beat then get better.

At least in this area... or the greater nor cal area the names people recognize are welcomed back as local boy goes big and we WANT them back and I think it would be cool if any other big name followed.

The local guys that don't tour... or hell the local legends that mentored those guys years ago and stopped their touring 10 years ago want to see them and continue to test themselves against them. Sometimes the good local guys that have chosen a different life than exclusively DG can feel pretty good about who they beat.

Maybe because i'm not playing open i am wrong about some of the welcoming back of and there are some lower level open players that don't like giving their money up, but if there are they keep it to themselves, and I assume they are trying just as hard to cash as always. Hell a couple of the Masters and Grandmasters will play Open when the big guns come out I imagine to test themselves directly against those guys or just to play with them again since they were Open with those names were playing Advanced.

I've often thought that I could win just about all of my local B and C tiers if players better than me didn't keep showing up!

I grew up next to a course and played every day in the late 90s. Just got back into it this summer . A lot has changed.
