Lol played a tournament yesterday and our card refused to do live scoring. It was great.

I'm not sure how to discuss this, other than "download something that works better".

No.....old school is writing your score on a scorecard and turning it into a tournament director. Oddly, interface problems are nearly non existent.

While I agree with some of your reasons to not own a smart phone, productivity and map reading falls pretty short.

Is this a 3 or a 5? I can't read it.
Did Billy go to lunch with the scorecard in his pocket? It's been like 15 minutes and their card isn't turned in yet.
Double check this scorecard for me. I've added it up twice and don't agree.

Might not be interface problems, but they're some sort of problems.

Hell, you're doing pretty good to still have a usable iPhone 4.
Introduced in June 2010. Sold as the mid-range iPhone until Sep 2012. Sold as the entry-level iPhone until Sep 2013. The last OS update for it was iOS 7.1, released June 2014. iOS 8 dropped support for the iPhone 4 when it was released in June 2014.

I'm surprised many websites work at all, not just PDGA Live.

Maybe a different browser might fix it, but I doubt recent versions of Chrome or Firefox would be supported on iOS 7.

She's using a phone that's 9 years old and you accuse Apple of screwing their customers?

Yep! I just love the design of the model. The black glass front and black with brushed metal frame looks nice and feels solid AF in the hand. Because it's held together with actual (tiny) screws and not adhesive and use-once break-off snap plastic tabs, I was able to replace the internal battery without destroying it.

When 3G GSM cell sites go away soon, as they're coming off the towers to make room for new 5G equipment, it'll finally go off the air and become just an iPod, but it's had a heck of a run.

To anyone who thinks I'm seriously complaining that the live scoring doesn't work on an ancient relic of a bygone era: lighten up.

Apple publicly admitted they were slowing down their old phones when they were facing a bunch of lawsuits for doing just that.

So yea... Apple did their customers a disservice.

I doubt the hardware in a 9 year old smartphone prevents that phone from receiving current software patches. The phone's age and the phone's operating system age are two different things.

Apple admitted to throttling peak processor performance when the battery was failing to prevent the battery from shutting down. There's a difference there.

Newest version of Chrome requires iOS 10. So, exactly as I said: I doubt the latest versions of Chrome or Firefox would be supported on iOS 7.
