Default Orc vs OLF

Looking for opinions and experiences from those that have thrown both. How do they compare in different plastics, is there much of a difference in flights, which do you prefer and why?

Of those two I prefer the Orc. Its a tick faster and seems to go a little further. OLF and Orc fly similarly, but the OLF doesn't seem to glide that great and can be sluggish. I think there's a reason it was never overly popular.

Orcs are a fine driver, but sometimes get flippy at weird times or in slight headwinds.

I'd throw a Thunderbird over either the Orc or OLF.

Well, although it was a while back, Dave Dunipace called the OLF (the first run QOLF, specifically) the best driver he ever produced. Orc is a bit faster, a bit wider in the rim, and a bit less predictable in the wind and as it seasons -- the HST on the Orc is just a bit squirrellier.

You can crush on both if you get your release angles dialed in, and both have the same distance potential as a Thundy, if not slightly more.

I think the OLF was very popular in its day, especially for being from an Innova-molded off-brand, so to speak.

Depends what you want out of it, really: OLF is probably a better all-around fairway/control driver while the Orc is probably a better control/distance tweener driver.

OLF wants to be thrown "hard." Orc wants to be thrown smoother.

Extra credit - compare the two to Thunderbirds.

They are all roughly the same speed. Orc might be a little faster.
Orc and OLF should have a little less HSS than the Thundy... but this bit is dependent on PLH. I have some Thundies that are very similar to OLFs.

The Thundies have a little less LSS than either the Orc or the OLF.

Personally, I appreciate the slightly blunter nose configuration on the Thundy/OLF because it is a bit thicker and more robust. The Orcs seem thinner and, I'd assume, a smidge more fragile. I'll take more durability at the slight cost of speed.

All three are good discs (Orc is underrated IMO) but my money is on the easy availability and broad plastic selection of the Thundy.

I've thrown the Orc a few times in the past, nothing memorable that I could weigh in a solid opinion on.

I have a lot of experience with the SOLF though. Didn't really care for the 1.2 and 1.3 runs but the 1.1 and 1.4 are easily my favorite discs of all time. It's a "distance" driver for those without a huge arm, ie most players out there.. Very controllable but they have to perfect HSS/LSS combo to gain some distance as well.

The only disc I bag faster than the OLF is the Scorpius and they only get used for wide open distance where the extra 20-30' or so is worth the risk.

Orc is probably 10-15' longer than the Thunderbird or OLF. I'd still choose the Thunderbird over the other 2. Very predictable flight. For a speed 9 driver the Thunderbird really gets it done.

My only real gripe about the Orc is it can get finicky in any sort of headwind. Random flipping at inconvenient times. The Thunderbird has no high speed turn.
