No they are just stupid. They freak out and buy toilet paper of all things but can’t follow directions.

Panic response is an overreaction.

Again the PDGA is right to cancel events due to the current state of the country. My point is that a lot of it could have been avoided.

It’s been and will continue to be an example of how bad Americans are about dealing with any kind of problem that forces them to use their brains.

The toilet paper thing is for sure an over reaction. Please explain what that's all about?

I don't know about the TP, I've had to take enough "emergency" poops in my life that I'm not worried about it.. You find a way to wipe.

It's just a great example of mass panic and hoarding, likely the tip of the iceberg too. Reminds me of a T/F question that hung me up on a safety exam and I failed out of the module and had to get the instructor to reset it:

Safety is common sense T/F?

Answer is False because not everyone has common sense. !?!

Twofold. 1, people worried about being stuck at home for a long period of time if they get forcibly or voluntarily quarantined. 2, trying to limit how often they go out in public in the spirit of #flattenthecurve. Both logical reasons I think, but one Costco package of TP lasts us a month at least so idk why people are hoarding many of them. Food will be a problem long before then.

#1 is for 2 weeks.
#2 is not logical when it comes to TP, imo
It's the hoarding that baffles me.

We either gorge ourselves or deny the reality of situations. We operate in extremes.

I’m really glad that the PDGA canceled the pro tour for the foreseeable future. My grandparents live 10 minutes away from Paul McBeth. If he caught the coronavirus because the PDGA didn’t cancel any events and brought it back to my grandparents community I would be very upset. I would strongly consider pursuing legal action against Paul McBeth and the PDGA if my grandparents ended up getting the virus

What I'm hearing in the retail biz is that there are lots of rumors spreading of Chinese production being shut down (exaggerated!), and once the concern hits a certain tipping point, basic instinct (and game theory) tells everyone to go top up while they still can. This is in addition to concerns about being quarantined, of course.

I can also speak to the problem being everybody getting the same idea to buy a "responsible" amount of TP, rather than big time hoarders (who are certainly real and causing trouble, but are a small minority).
