It's the hoarding that baffles me.
See I get the hoarding, Im on an island close enough to the big islands but pretty far if the ferries get shut down. I remember when a ferry rammed the terminal and took it out for about a month, no cars left and food came in via a barge. If there's just regular winter/permanent residents we will run out of food in a week with 2000 people.

I'm kinda thinking I should go to town and load up on chicken feed, dog food and groceries just in case I need to weather a month. Nothing stupid but a big bag of rice and beans would put me at ease.

Looks like the possibility of asymptomatic transmission is a greater risk than first believed, which is the conclusion the transmission spread has been pointing in all along. My Rheumo warned me of asymptomatic spread via children on Monday.

Following story published within last hour.

So, if someone finds out they are sick, and THEN they quarantine themselves, they've probably already exposed a bunch of other people over the preceding five days, or whatever. At least that's my understanding. So, that seems to be why the social distancing aspect is so important.

Lol. This is a really dumb take.

For the two of us in my house :

20 rolls of tp (should last a month)
Fridge/freezer and small deep freeze loaded and should last a month
A month of dry and wet food for the kitties
4000 dvds and 400gigs of music, restrung all my guitars
Short on herbal essence, though

Now to lay in a month's worth of liquor.

Time it takes between exposure and onset of symptoms:

Cold (rhinovirus):1-3 days
Fku (influenza): about 1-4 days
Covid 19 (SARS-CoV-2): not really well known at this point but seems to take about 5-12 days before symptoms appear.

More time to expose others before people even realize realize they're sick + highy transmittable is what makes this a nasty bug to take down.

I didn't provide sources for two reasons:
1) I encourage you to do a little digging and find out for yourself.
2) I'm on my phone and adding links is a pain.

The first time I heard that I should stock up on TP was in the context that all of the raw materials were going to be diverted to make masks so there was going to be global shortage of TP.

P&G has their HQs here in Cincy, they better not let their home town run out.

The reason there's no TP is everyone realizes how full of crap people get when they panic... they're ust planning for the inevitable.

Cheap bastard that I am, I buy big family size packs of TP and paper towels when they're on sale cuz it simply costs less that way. Since I live alone, they last me months... unless my avatar gets carried away.

I got accused of stocking up for Covid last night, I'm infamous in the meat dept already... But it was frozen pizzas on sale yesterday so I bought 6 or 7.. I think my honey loves me more than pizza, but some nights I'm not sure. Don't need flowers, just a pepperoni deluxe special.
