Default MVP / Axiom Confusion

Been out of the game awhile so I didn't pay close attention to what Axiom discs are when they launched. Are some Axiom discs just MVP discs in fancy colors or are they all completely different molds? For example are the MVP Atom and Axiom Proxy the same thing?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I'm confused by the whole 1 company making 2 brand of discs thing.

They are different molds.
The Axiom molds slot between the MVP molds in stability most times.

The Wrath is a beat Tesla
The Crave is a worn in Servo
The Insanity is a slightly less stable Inertia

And so on and so on.

It is new mold pieces. Basically they just make tweaks to the overmold "mold" and change the parting line height of the disc. Creates a straighter flight/more OS flight, etc.

The differences are so subtle though, with specs being the same. That's not easy to do.

Makes sense. Thanks! Well the 2 separate companies thing makes no sense, but your explanation does.

Their logic was to separate the dedication to a consistent product from the desire to run wild in the box of crayons.

MVP always have black overmold, or white if Eclipse.

Axiom have pretty much every color overmold except black (aside from some special runs).

The visual distinction, molds and ethos are unique. I'm not sure how they manage Axiom, but it's not unlike Trilogy (Lat 64, DD & Westside) or Innova & Discmania, etc.
