I've got an Elite Z 173g Comet that goes in and out of the bag. Some days I really love it and some days I reach for the Polecat instead. I'm starting to wonder if I had a Comet with better grip if I would use it more. That Z plastic is pretty slippery when it gets wet.

I didn't like my Z Comet (even though I love the feel of my Z Buzzz), but I really enjoy throwing my ESP Comet, so you may be right.

Anyone try artificially beating in an X Comet? I would really like to bag a flippy comet / Z comet / wasp, but my last seasoned comet got picked up by someone that wasn't me.

In my finding, Comets don't beat in flippy, they just loose their fade.

Look for a flatter X comet, it will start off much more US. Than a domey one.

Flat x comets or flat (older run) esp comets have amazing grip, still great glide, just comes more understable out of the box.

Currently throwing a beat 175g x comet and want to add a premium to the bag. Looking at a 170g old esp blend or 173-175g '19 MJ esp, what do?

Buy them both? I mean, that's what I would do.

I carry three ESP Comet’s to cover almost all of my mid duties. One beat flat esp, one slightly worn mild dome and one ‘19 MJ. I carry a Caiman if the wind starts to really pick up.
