Most of the "proponents" have moved along to rail against the slew of new players in the "What is up with all the chuckers on my local course" thread.

It does seem to be a logical progression. Eventually, you just don't care either way.. and end up just not being a dick.

We hope.

And some others like more courses.

When I started a couple of decades ago, we pretty much had our local course to ourselves.

And we played it over and over and over, because it was a 1 1/2 hour drive to the next closest one.

Now there must be 100 within a 2-hour drive, some of which are vastly better than anything that existed around here in the mid-90s.

Though there are some drawbacks, I wouldn't want to turn the clock backwards. Thus, I'm not too concerned with it running forwards, and where that may take us.

Which is probably fortunate, since I don't have a lot of choice in the matter.

The course I play gets extremely crowded in the summer, it can take almost 2 hours to play a course that takes 45 minutes to play when it isnt busy, I do try to grow the sport, but I *attempt* to get them to understand proper course behavior and such.

For your sake, I hope the "more courses" catches up with the "more players" in your area, and eases the crowding.

There is a course that was built in my city by a member on here, but the baskets wont be put in until spring.

For some, 'grow the sport' is merely a virtue-signaling mask, which may or may not conceal their mixed motivations...
