Default Disc Golf is a good walk made Great...

Disc golf is ALL about having FUN...

Disc golfing is the not about driving furthest, putting best,

or lowest score, it's about having the most fun throwing plastic in the woods!

I have always enjoyed the feeling you get when watching the clean flight of a well-thrown Disc

through the trees.

"Golf is a good walk spoiled"

With DG the opposite is true; Disc Golf is a good walk made Great.

Default Perfect...

[QUOTE=disco40;3566740]I'd love to play competently, whether alone or with friends. The social aspect is secondary to the playing of the game. Probably somewhere around scratch golf would be great, but I don't have to get quite that good to be satisfied.

More than that, I just want to keep throwing discs and watching them fly and land and skip about. It's really simple and interesting, and sometimes beautiful, and it keeps me honest.

Last month I watched a huge herd of deer come down to the creek for a drink, as I gave them some space, and then I threw the hole down toward their creek as they gave me some space. Just a perfect private moment; those are nice aspirations too.

Awesome sentiment! Well put.

I'd like to win a tournament in my age-bracket.

To do that, I need to actually play in my age bracket. I learned a hard lesson at last year's Hickory tourney. Played with the 40's, and clearly had no business doing so.
So this year I'll be with the 50's, where I belong.

I thought I was pretty good, and learned that I really ain't.

My goal is to see some form improvements (already have), get out to about 350' with decent accuracy, bag a bunch of new courses, but the most important one is just to get out and have a blast playing with my 5 year old son. Most fun wins!!!

Hope to play in a few tournaments and not finish last in all of them.

I'm easy to satisfy.

I tend toward extremes, so naturally I want to be the best ever.
Unfortunately, I’m not particularly gifted athletically.
Add to that, I’m 62.
So while disc golf field work is good for exercise, my practice doesn’t necessarily translate into excellence.

That’s why I stopped competing;
it’s great when I’m playing well (although I tend to be somewhat insufferable),
but when I play poorly it’s just slow torture (but I keep it light for my card mates).

Realistically, my stretch goal is to play consistently in the 980 range, but I can live with the mid 900’s.
I haven’t played a PDGA tourney since 2014 or so, but I may try one later this year or next year to see how well I do attitude-wise and ratings-wise.

I got into throwing discs at trees and baskets later in life. Being a fairly competitive person, the only person I care to be better than is past self. If someone plays better than my best... I am good with that. I still like to see well-thrown shots and like the challenge of managing the course. Plus I love playing new courses.

If I can continue to do this for the distant future, I will be a happy golfer.

Me I want to just eventually get my PDGA number renewed and compete in the local PDGA event next year. This year it is a no go as the event is in the PDGA canceled zone.
