Default Live dg coverage

I'm not starting this thread to kill smasboxx or dgplanet. Rather, I'm curious to know how much more it would cost to have uninterrupted live coverage of dg events and how much y'all would pay to see good coverage.

I know it's free and I'll take what I can get. Its just hard to devote time to watching it if it doesn't work. When dgp was working yesterday the numbers were near 1500. When it stopped working, it was near 650. I wonder how many they could have gotten with a seamless coverage?

I want to thank all the guys that do this for nearly nothing though. You guys rock! I hope you guys make a ton on your investment in the future.

I'd pay $10-15 per event for high quality coverage.

Needless to say, I am grateful for the coverage that we do have (both live and edited). Thanks for bringing the game to those who cant be there!

I voted $5-10, but I'd pay more if I knew that I was available to watch the full broadcast from start to finish. $5-10 to be able to pop in when I have time, particularly for a week long event like Worlds, is a good deal. I gladly paid it the last two years and was ready to do it again this year (though I'm not bothered to not have to pay).

Problem is that I don't think there's any amount of money that they could charge PPV-style that would guarantee seamless coverage. The only way I think they could nearly guarantee it is if they were able to buy satellite time and beam the coverage in the same manner that television does. But that's hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, which ain't coming from disc golfers anytime soon.

As long as they're relying on cell signals, local residential style broadband, and single cameras/battery packs, there are going to be times where signal gets spotty, bandwidth gets tight, or batteries die, and the broadcast suffers for it. And we just have to deal with the bugs in order to see live coverage.

It would probably depend on the event. It's more fun to play than to watch, and mostly I watch to learn, but if it's a pretty exciting card, I might pay more to watch it. Or if it follows multiple cards like ball golf coverage does.

It very much depends on the event. I would pay 5-10$ to watch an event like what smasboxx put on. I think the stakes should be higher in an exhibition like that to bring in more viewers but I really enjoyed it. Maybe a big cash prize.

I never watched ball golf when I was playing ball golf though I did go to a couple of PGA events to see it in person (free tickets both times). I guess if it was live on tv (internet) I may check it out now and then but I wouldn't set my watch for it. However I do think good live coverage would help the sport.

a single event could be worlds or a 1 day tournament. im gonna be more willing to spend money on a longer event over a shorter one. but at the moment less than $10 regardless of length of event. also single day events i probably would have a hard time paying for.

i would be much more inclined to pay a yearly subscription fee to a group that can bring quality coverage. prolly up to $50 depend on the production value.

Typed out a long post why i would indeed pay $20 for seamless coverage. Deleted it and voted 'none'. It's just not practicle.

Maybe one of our videographers can back this up, but I don't think that even 10,000 of us paying $20 each would be enough for "good" coverage. It wouldn't hurt for us to chip in though.

Having said that, I'd still pay up to $20 for an event like Worlds.

I'd bet 10,000 of us paying $20 isn't enough to fund coverage of the quality we've already seen.
