Went out this morning and did the one legged drill. Really focused on the Hogan power move/butt wipe. Felt a lot better and it doesn’t look like my weight is crashing forward as much.

I think you're going to have to change how you think about the swing. Give this a read:
https://www.dgcoursereview.com/forum...ht=swing+plane

It looks like you are still spinning on your front leg as opposed to braced up on it. Pay attention to the stills in the thread above. See how your leg bends and spins, whereas the pros are all braced up with a straighter leg?

I think if you view the forward swing as a more vertical as opposed to horizontal across your body it might help fix this. Remember you're using the ground as leverage.

On a positive note, I wouldn't be surprised if you really crush- and hurt less- once you make a few adjustments.

Would also recommend practicing on concrete or asphalt or dirt to gain confidence on planting and pivoting on heel, rather than planting into catchy/scary patchy grass.

Man I appreciate this right here. Just standing in my office and swinging my arm vertically, I can feel a totally different type of brace with my front leg. Way more leverage and feels more powerful. Just need to figure out how to translate this into a disc throw which will probably take some major work but totally worth it.

I played tennis in high school, think I need to swing like I’m hitting a backhand winner down the line

Default Finally got a tripod - please help me fix my backhand

Went to the field this morning for over an hour. Tried to take my tennis swing motion and replicate it in my backhand...

Nope. Turns out 9 years of spinning on my front leg is really hard to unlearn. Spent most of the rest of the time trying different motions, pretending I was throwing a bench, swinging a bat left handed, and just spraying discs everywhere and getting really frustrated.

I think I finally made some progress at the end...tried to slow down and go for a pulling a rope/lawnmower feel while keeping my arm loose. The motion still feels completely foreign but I was getting a more consistent hit without crashing my weight forward and spinning on my front leg. Is this closer to what I’m looking for?
