Default Mach X Baskets

They premiered at the 2014 Memorial last week but from all the footage I've seen they didn't debut until the last round. Did I miss something? Why did they wait to install these new-fangled targets until the end?

On another note, did anyone notice (or hear about) how those who played with them felt about them? The x-shape of the inner chains didn't seem to catch any better (or worse, for that matter) from the footage I saw. What's the verdict on these? Anyone play with them yet?

On yet another note, the putting by JohnE and McBeast (and a plethora of the other pros) during the 2014 Memorial was sick. These dudes motivate me.

On another tangent, ADD sucks.

The baskets were installed all week long at Fountain.

I'm a gentle putter, the chains made me nervous at close range a few times, they're dense enough that there's plenty of complaints that soft putts fall short. I had no instances of such, but definitely felt the possibility. Otherwise, the cage seems really deep... worked great, caught everything I threw at it, except all those that hit the cage.

A waste of chain as far as I'm concerned.

I'm pretty sure Feldberg talked about them when I listened to this podcast this morning:

http://www.discgolfanswerman.com/1/p...van-owens.html

If I remember right, he had good things to say about them preventing the disc from shooting out the back of the basket, but wasn't quite sure about the finess putters who might have the disc pop out if they don't put enough momentum on them.

Of course he mentioned that he has high hopes that his new sponsor lat64 will make some phenomenal basket that will be perfect and have no problems whatsoever. That dude cracks me up sometimes.

The issue of soft putting getting pushed back out seems like kind of a big deal to me. I still think that rewarding folks who slam the disc into the chains at high speeds over those who finesse it in seems backward to me. My putting style is somewhere in the middle, so I doubt they would affect me much, but I don't think that's the right way to go with basket design.

This is the first round. Am I looking at footage from the wrong course?

Yes. That's Vista and it did not have the Mach X baskets.

Yeah. In case you hadn't noticed, they play 2 courses at the Memorial. Days 1 and 3 are Vista Del Camino for the Pros and days 2 and 4 are at Fountain Hills. The Ams get the opposite. DGWeekly had some fun wind footage coverage of Day 2 at FH.
