Default Throwing a baseball/water bottle etc. at a disc stuck in a tree

Is it legal to throw something that isn't a disc to try and knock your disc out of a tree? People have told me they would penalize someone for doing this, but I've seen someone doing it on YouTube at a big event (I think it was this year's Throw Down the Mountain).

I don't think there's anything in the rulebook about throwing something that isn't a disc.

The question might be, can you continue to follow all the other rules? It is likely fine to be throwing a baseball into a tree. But, can you keep up speed of play? Is that the disc you want to throw and you're trying to knock it out of the tree so you can throw it immediately? You only have 30 seconds to do so. Or maybe you've already thrown. Now you have to hurry because you need to keep up with the group, you must watch their throws (in order to call foot faults, to help search for lost discs). Also, can you not be a distraction? Could be a courtesy violation if you're making noise/movements while someone else is trying to throw.

Throwing an object other than a disc is acceptable for getting your disc down from a tree. However as Martin has nicely stated you need to be careful you don't run into other rules during the retrieval process. During a tournament you might get a couple quick attempts before your group is ready to move on or the group behind you is ready and waiting at the tee. Be careful of making a bunch of noise that could distract other players in the surrounding area. But if your group is cool, the group behind you is not at the pad and no other groups are within earshot then have it with a baseball, hockey puck, water bottle or whatever.

Just be careful in using a disc. I think the new rule is 5 Meters to throw before it is considered practice... That's 15 Feet or so...

But, no disc left behind! No matter what the cost!
