Would also explain why the JLS is more beginner friendly.

So, after doing some looking the JLS is the same width rim as the Leopard (1.6 cm), and the Teebird and Eagle is 1.7 cm. And the Patriot and Rival are both 1.8 cm.

This explains a lot.

I almost wish they would make a Patriot-L

It is often said that the JLS had the Whippet wing with a Teebird top. But the Whippet has a 1.7 cm rim? Either the PDGA measurements are slightly off or it is not the Whippet wing.

Or the plastic they used to mold the JLS that was sent for approval cooled differently (shrunk more) than the plastic used for the Whippets that were sent for approval.

The Rival and Patriot are the new TB3 and TL3 sized wing.

My calipers show a Teebird, Eagle, and FD all to be ~.69" rim width. I believe the Teebird3 is the same, but I traded mine off and can't remember for sure anymore.

Pinnacle Patriot and Rival are ~.68".

Champ Leo3 is ~.64".

and now for something completely different...

I pull my CE JLS's and CE blend QJs in the winter so they don't explode when hitting frozen trees. I sub in a couple silver legend patriots and inevitably question why I'm subbing the Patriots out for QJs in the spring. Patriots go a little too far for most of the old school courses around here and CE is griptastic. Patriot like the JLS is great for hyzer flip tunnels but Patriots can take a little more power, and have a tick less turn once seasoned, especially Pats in the recent clear Pinnacle. Same slot(s), IMO.
