Tried 3 fingers under the flight plate instead of the 2 i normally use. Se pictures for clarification. Felt like I had greater control over release angel and better power transfer. Better power transfer because the 3 fingers didn't flex as much during the trow than using 2. This may or may not be a bad thing.
Haven't seen that grip before and I'm wondering if there is a reason for that. Anyone tried it and given up on it? Am I limiting my distance using this grip? Sponsored Links

Heck, I use one finger under the flight plate. I can't even imagine where the discs would go if I tried three.

Three would seem awkward for me. I get more power/snap with one finger than two. There's probably a reason nobody uses 3.

When I imagine me throwing it with three fingers I can clearly visualize it going very deep into the woods.

2 feels just right for me but if 3 works for you then go for it. Do you lose some distance with 3 fingers while gaining accuracy? If there is not a significant distance loss and you are gaining accuracy with this technique then by all means, use what works.

I played club ultimate with some guys that threw flicks with 3 fingers. They were really good. If it works for you, do it, they don't put pictures on the scorecard.

I use 1 finger under. I have been thinking, I wonder if I can get more distance if I try 2 fingers. 3 just blows my mind.

For me, the majority of the forehand power comes from the finger(s) touching and wedged up against the inside rim. Any other finger(s) touching the bottom flight plate I use for stability/control.
So from my perspective, I would think the three finger grip you show could potentially give you more control, but you'll only get more power from a different forehand grip if you can get more fingers on the inside rim. Either way, I agree with the others - if it works, go with it. ___________________________ |

Do whatever works for you, but I actually gained better accuracy and distance when i switched from two fingers to one finger under the rim.
