Default Just like a Comet?

In the current discussion on the S-Line FD, two people noted how similar the S-FD is to a Comet. That got my attention, because the X Comet is my all-time favorite disc. I love how (if my form is good) it just glides forever.

Question: If the above statements about the FD are true, what other discs are very Comet-like? If you want to suggest other mids, that's OK, but since I already have my Comet, I'm looking more at other categories: putt & approach, fairways, even distance drivers (Is that even possible?)

I'll get it started by sharing the opinion of Mr. Comet himself, Michael Johansen, who describes the Heat as "a driver that flies like a Comet."

So, there are two nominees: S-FD and Heat. Any others?

I don't care for them because of how deep the grip is, but the flight of the Innova Nova reminds me of a slowed down Comet.

The MVP Tangent is a little faster, flatter and more modern in its wing design. Throws many of the same lines, though it gets there with a combination of aerodynamics and glide rather than pure float like a Comet.

I love the Comet! I have them in Z and X plastic. I also have a Heat but haven't had it long enough to form an opinion yet. It does seems to hold a long anny line pretty well and if I don't crank on it, I can get a nice S turn. I just need more throws with it to see if I really like it. I just ordered an FD last night from Infinite to replace the River I lost recently. Sounds like it's going to make me very happy!

I know I'm answering my own question, but I just remembered that someone on this board once compared Gateway's Magic to the Comet.

In my experience, the Star TL and Leopard3 both fit the bill for very straight fairway lines somewhat like a Comet. For a shorter version of that line, I like the Colt.

It's hard to keep a distance driver that straight without fading. I'd say, if anything, a Tern or Shryke have been the closest for me. If I hyzer flip them and keep them low, I can get very straight lines out of them, but throw them too high and you'll definitely get some fade.

Comet is my all time fav disc as well. And X Comets are what got me hooked.
Yup, you're right. Gateway Magic. Fantastic disc.
Discraft APX as well. Pretty much interchangeable with the Magic IMO.
Innova Aero is fun and neutral.
And to a certain extent, the Polecat.

I have a hard time classifying any driver I've thrown as truly "Comet-like."
Milennium JLS is close.
Certain Discraft XLs can be close. Usually Elite X or lower PLH Elite Zs.
Similarly, certain Leopards can be close as well. I really like the Pro plastic Leos for this reason but the shape needs to be right. It seems like the Pros most often have the shape I want.

I'm sure there are more but these are the only ones I have significant experience with.

I have never thrown a Discmania FD but I've heard enough respectable people make the comparison that I tend to believe it. It is at the top of my short list of discs to try.

duh, not sure how I forgot to mention this one.
The O Roc was created as a replica of the Comet. But I still like the Comet better.

The Gateway Magic is like a putter version of the Comet as others have said.

Discs I carry with Comet-like properties: Polecat, maybe Pure? I can't think of any drivers... there's just too much end-fade to feel like a Comet to me.

But in my opinion there ain't no disc that has been Comet-like enough to replace it. I say Polecat because, like a Comet, it just holds a line. Very little end fade, and doesn't even like to turn early unless there's some form problem.
