APX is the Comet of putters.

I would say a Pro Leopard is the Comet of drivers.

I think if we're comparing to a max weight Z comet, I would say a Proxy is a good slower option and the FD has to be the go-to fairway. I'm not convinced you could find a faster disc that would act similarly.

This is the boat I'm in. The best I have found from personal experience is a beat-ish Pro Leopard that started out beefy or a Millennium plastic JLS. But either of those aren't really longer Comets. They might replicate some of the attributes... but definitely not all.

Similarly, I have not really found a slower Comet either although there are several stronger candidates for this title.

Comets are just magical. Throw them, enjoy them, and don't get hung up on finding longer/shorter versions. That's my $0.02 worth.

Fits the bill for the type of disc flight shape you are going for. The Discraft disc I would recommended is a Stratus in X as X Stratus flies almost the same as an X Comet. Stratus is a slow fairway midrange hybrid speed as oposed to a Comet being almost a Slow midrange putter hybrid speed, Archer would be close too if comparing premium plastic. Now a full on Driver like a Comet is a Beast, as those end up like a more regular dome to higher domed Comet and fly like a Valkyrie flight path.
Had to fix the red.

Yep I would agree or a DX Leopard. Another great choice is the Stratus in X, that flies like a X Comet. Faster in the non fairway Driver 9 speed and up category is impossible to find a Comet in flight as then you are then having too much speed, closest I have heard was a Domed Mantis. I would say a Valkyrie but then even that is not close to how a Comet flies. As for putters a Areo or a Rubber putter an even closer disc due to the bead are the choice but they are almost the same distance as a Comet due to the glide those faster 3 speed putters have and the fact a Comet could be an emergency putter.

The Comet is the only one of its kind and therefore has no mates to have babies with

My bag is built on the "flies like a shorter/longer comet" premise.

Putter comet = habit aka zeppelin
Midrange = comet duh
Fairway = champ leopard 3 or z mantis
Control driver = z heat
Distance driver = low ph star destroyer or opto knight

I also have the "stable comet" variants

Putter = wizard
Midrange = z buzz
Fairway = c line fd
Control driver = neutron volt
Distance driver = *ds destroyer

Is the Nova similar to the Comet in flight (not how they feel in the hand)? I haven’t tossed a Comet in years.
