I hadn't thought of this angle, so I've read up a bit. You're right that collegiate sports (in the US) have to be amateur. But, and I didn't know this myself, the Olympics have allowed professionals since 1986! Boxing and wrestling held out for a bit and wouldn't allow pros to compete in the Olympics, but boxing caved in 2016.

Interesting article about the change.

I did but it never says a thing about the Pro Tour or National Tour, just Majors. I thought the Pro Tour has a qualifying of 900 or 920 or something close to those numbers, as I thought I had seen that in its own thread. I do say for just those events maybe have name of open dropped but I say no, and someday the possibility of having the amateur and pro divisions at events Like Majors open to all who qualify including amateurs that can qualify for the events and pro's who can qualify for amateur events.

Read it again.

It says "...PDGA Major and Elite Series events in 2020."

I missed that last little bit, Elite Series. I thought that the Elite Series was just another word for Majors.

It’s 4 sentences long. The information isn’t hidden.

“...will be in effect at PDGA Majors with an Open field (PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships, European Open, United States Disc Golf Championship) and all PDGA National Tour and Disc Golf Pro Tour events.”
