Default PDGA Tournament Manager Application

Anyone use the new online PDGA Tournament Manager application instead of the old Excel file? Thoughts on it versus the Excel file? Tips for TD's using if for the first time? I am debating using it for our next tournament.

I have built up my own system over the years and prefer being able to do everything offline and then only upload when needed. So I have not used much of it. I've asked for a test event so I can try some features out without worrying about it when I have 100 (or 900 this weekend) waiting on me. Haven't been able to convince them to do that.

That said, there are some assumptions in the tournament manger on how some things are done or accounted. Using the Excel file gives a little more flexibility there.

I had heard there is less flexibility with the back end of the payout tables (i.e. how steep it is). Was thinking about keeping with the Excel just for that reason.

Surprised the PDGA hasn't put together a test event. I was going to reach out to them for one to play with. Day of is not the time to be learning a new system.

I too built my own Excel system for tracking everything and was loathe to give it up, but between Disc Golf Scene for registration and the online tournament manager for everything else (and the two being linked), Excel is a thing of the past. It really isn't difficult to use and you can absolutely play around with it prior to the event in order to get familiar with it and to pre-populate a lot of the non-score related data. If it's any indication for the ease of use, in my second time using it, I did all the entering of data (scores, final payouts, etc) on my phone in real time and had the report done and submitted before I left the parking lot at the end of the day.

It is awesome. Best single improvement in the PDGA in the last 20 years.

Did the Payout function automatically adjust the payout for ties or do you need to do that manually?
