Hey all just want to get some opinions on varying disc weights. I started playing this year and originally all my discs were under 170g but the more I played, I found heavier weighted putters and mids worked much better for me but my distance drivers are still most comfortable at 167-170. Since I am in the market for a few new fairway drivers, is it a good idea to step up the weight a bit from my max distance drivers or do most stick with similar weights between their fairway drivers (speed 5-7) and max distance drivers (speed 9-13)?
Thanks all! Sponsored Links

How far are you throwing the 167-170 high speeds? Which high speeds too, overstable, understable?
How far would you throw a gazelle (or equivalent of) compared to how far you throw a wraith (or equivalent of)? |

I cannot say for sure what works or will work for you, but I throw my OLF's in the 168-171 range and my ESP cyclones anywhere from 171 to 174. Most of the weight difference in my cyclones is a function of needing the right color for the correct dome I look for. I would buy one in the weight that you throw your drivers in and then try one heavier, side by side. You may find a difference, but my guess is the difference will be negligible.

I would have to agree that the difference between heavier putters and mids would be much more dramatic than heavier fairways.
Currently I use my Gazelle (167 CFR Champ) for shots 220-280. My driver of choice atm is my Wraith (168 Champ) which I use for max distance (320-350). Thanks again for the feedback. |

If you wanted to test it though, just pick up a cheap 170-172 DX Gazelle and see how it compares to the 167 Champ version distancewise. |

I'd stick with the same weights and start trying to push the fairway drivers out farther rather than moving up in weight.
