I know a site. I also know of several ways to go through the state.

As an out-of-stater, I enjoyed Ward in Birmingham quite a bit a few weeks ago.

I took a trip out to Mobile a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I played Cottage Hill, U of South Alabama, and Langen Park, although the last was a bit rushed as the sun was setting. USA and Langen were very quality courses: the former had a lot of variety and made for a very complete round, and the latter was very well designed, with some interesting water hazards, a lot of OB, great pin placements, and lots of chances to really rip a drive while still having to shape lines. I wrote up pretty sizable reviews of USA and Cottage Hill, if you want more details on those courses.

If you make it to Mobile, I'd recommend USA and Langen, with another course if you have time; there are a lot within a very short space - I think it was 3 miles from Cottage Hill to USA and another 3 from USA to Langen.

I drove through Alabama this spring, and played both Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa and Inverness in Hoover. I would recommend either of them. They were pretty easy to navigate around solo. They are both close to I-20 if that is your route, as well.

There are some great courses in North Alabama:

Sparkman Park - Hartselle - not far from I-65 great course

Indian Creek - Huntsville - beautiful course on a a green way. Closest thing we have to a pro course.

UAH - Huntsville - Long, logs of OB, definitely a challenge. Plays along the south part of the UAH campus

Athens Sportsplex - Athens - This is a good course, but not the best we have to offer. A fair amount of OB and water (creek) to contend with. Mostly wide open. This one is also really close to I-65.

Mobile - USA, Cottage Hill
Birmingham area - Clay, George Ward, Inverness
Tuscaloosa - Bowers

Those are what I recommend based on what I've played.

I played in the Huntsville area the past couple of weeks. Indian Creek and Masten Lake were my favorites, i really liked the Flying Dragon but only has 12 baskets. Brahan was fun but I could see getting crowded if you do not play early. I played Brahan when a monthly was going on at Indian Creek. It was fun but i did not feel welcome by some casuals wearing their brand new Innova gear and acting like they were playing on the lead card at the usdgc. Isolated but only course i have ever played where no one would tell me where the 1st teepad was. Reminded me of surfing localism but safer.
