Good to see Nate back. EO is now a leading event. IMO, they are setting standards for other events. If the US isn't careful, that youth movement there is going to threaten our dominance in the sport.

There will be live scoring, as usual with DGWT events. No live streams but Jomez is on site.

What about live final 4 holes on Finnish TV? Is that happening again considering the good ratings they had before?

I havent heard anything about it, and dont see it on the tv guide.

U.S. dominance is going to continue until we a. move Finland to warmer latitudes so we can play year round and b. increase our population 100-fold. With so many more people there will always be better talent.

...or just c) spread the disc golf around Europe, including the warm South. European Union has a population of 511 million compared to the 325 million in the United States. There's an enormous potential for growth there. If it would catch on in countries like Spain, that's also where Finns and other northern habitants could practice in the winter months. I'm talking professional level, of course.

Still, I don't think it's that much about climate, it's more about the level of competition and being able to play fully professionally. Think of it as NHL players compared to the semi-pros in most European leagues, if a hockey analogy is allowed. When Finns broke through to the NHL their games improved by a leap as they were paid real professional salaries that allowed them to focus on the game year-round, and most of all, faced the highest level of competition daily. I think a couple of Finnish young guns should look into any possible way to do the US touring life full time and see how far they can progress.

It's actually this evening, they're ahead of the US.

This isn't necessarily correct. Yes, in general, but I will point to the success the Netherlands has in football. Or perhaps the dominance of Finns in ralley. Given the climate in those countries, and population size, these successes seem contradictory. When I watch events in Finland I see dozens of kids watching. I see virtually none at US events. Success in sport builds out of youth, not guys that discover the sport in college or as adults.

I love this course so much. I cannot wait to watch the coverage when it's released. Do Europeans laugh at concrete tee pads? Pompous *******s if you ask me.
