Default Celebrate with champagne

An interesting question was asked on DGAM.

After Paige made the last putt and won worlds, people ran up and spray Champagne all over her and gave her some to drink.

She said "i can΄t drink that before my scorecard is turned in and signed"

So if Conrad swallowed some of the Champagne after the last putt at USDGC could he be disqualified?

Questions like this are exactly why we can’t have nice things.

I don't think any one would ever DQ a player for perhaps maybe possibly allowing a microscopic drop of alcohol to pass their lips accidentally when sprayed by other folks.

Independent of that, I think the whole champagne bath thing is stupid to begin with, and I really hope the growing trend of the practice goes away, at least on the course. If they want to do that in a post-tourney party or even after the awards ceremony (see the President's Cup celebration), fine. It doesn't have to be done on the course, particularly before everything's been officially verified. There's a reason you don't see champagne sprays on the 18th green at the Masters or US Open. It's bad form, IMO.

Come on, we all know he'd have been on the receiving end of such a bath. He'd never call for a DQ of himself, would he?

pretty sure if Ron was hitting the bubbly in 99 there would have been an issue...

You mean like when he tried to stroke Cale for a practice throw?

No doubt that Barry, Kenny, and Feldberg had great game, but being rules lawyers put a permanent black mark on their careers for me. Nikko is my spirit animal.

There was more "rulesiness" in general among the prior generation of players than the current one. I assume this is a general societal thing since disc golf has taken a lot of other steps towards greater professionalism since the 90's. Nikko's slow play would make me want to stick an icepick in my ear.

...and yeah- exactly like when he tried to stroke Cale.
