Should their be a Junior rim width limit?

I come from cycling, where juniors up to 18 have to use smaller gear ratios in races to encourage kids to learn proper pedaling and cadence and stop potential injuries from pushing too big of gears. This has me wondering if disc golf should do a similar thing by setting a max rim width for juniors to encourage kids to learn the proper form with reasonable speed discs.

Make them throw 7 speed or less? Nah. There’s a built-in limiter. If they want some distance, throw a flippy 7 speed instead of that Destroyer.

Perhaps going the other direction and allowing juniors the option to use sport rings on drives, where it makes sense, i.e., small chance to get stuck in trees, would help equalize distance among players in that age range.

I have always thought that juniors should get a smaller disc diameter. To use your analogy to biking, we are forcing kids to use a full sized bicycle.

I have no idea what the ideal diameter might be, but maybe something in the 18 cm range with a corresponding weight limit reduction.

Currently no permanent baskets to securely capture that size disc.

I don’t want to be negative to an idea, I like that you are thinking about such things.

That said, I don’t think it’s necessary. JMO.

Really? Are the lower baskets pushing the envelope that hard where 3cm will fall through the bottom? In any event the rules currently cover the eventuality where a disc falls out the bottom, and if it was really that big of an issue (which I doubt) it would be a simple solution for the enterprising disc golf entrepreneur to design.
