Default Discmania Mystery Boxes 2019

This years mystery box season starts today! As usual the boxes are promising to deliver major bang for your buck and from the sounds of it a new mold will possibly be included in the boxes! My experience with the boxes up to this point has been positive (although I think they went a little overboard with all the different versions last year). What are peoples thoughts on the whole mystery box event? Anything you would like to see (or not see)? Have mystery boxes peaked

Mystery boxes are an excellent way for vendors to unload inventory nobody would buy otherwise. Very clever are they.

I'll just keep buying discs I actually want.

I'd only buy a mystery box if I was brand new to the sport or really wanting to try out an assortment of a new company's plastic. I know what molds I like...I know what plastics I like...I know what weights I like...why would I let someone else pick those for me?

My experience with DM mystery boxes is that you get stamps/x outs that you cannot go anywhere and buy. A few years ago I got a box that literally every disc was a crazy unique stamp with split foils and everything. I feel where you are coming from though.

This. Not worth my time or money for at best couple of discs that I throw. I don't need more plastic collecting dust.

I agree with the people saying they would just buy the discs they need instead of getting a mystery box. Mystery boxes make great gifts though.

I considered getting one for half a second, figured it'd be the only way to get a non-glow FD2. But I don't blindly buy discs, even when I know the mold, weight, and color.

I can kinda see the appeal, I mean part of the fun for a lot of us is buying and trying new plastic and mystery boxes could be a good way to try some stuff you wouldn’t otherwise.

That said I don’t see myself buying one from any manufacturer this Christmas.

My bag doesn't need mystery. Like others, I don't see the point in these. Isn't there some kind of monthly disc golf thing where they ship you out random product based on your preferences? Crazy... lol..

Remember when the Discraft $99 Memorial Day mystery boxes were a huge hit earlier this year, with sales far beyond what Discraft expected?

And then, remember the 180 degree turn around in enthusiasm when people saw the contents of the boxes being posted online?

Retailers will probably pay the price for that crap storm until a bit of time goes by, and people forget and get gullible again.
