Default Why you should never use disc golf scene ...

I am having a whale of a time with paypal and disc golf scene. I have had the paypal account for 12 years but their policy is saying because of limited selling history every transaction has a 21 day hold. There therefore I will be taking 4k out of my bank account while paypal holds these funds, so I can personally fund this event.

Disc Golf United stands in between you and paypal so you don't have these issues. Disc Golf Scene puts the responsibility on the individual. It stinks on ice and they have no other way to collect funds via regular credit card transaction. By my way of thinking the PDGA decision to purchase Disc Golf Scene was crazy stupid. If you want new TDs and Tournaments and Organizations there are better ways. My credit is great and the way this works ignores that.

Rant ended... lesson learned

If you're using your personal paypal to take tournament entries, you're better off changing it to a business account. It costs nothing and changes nothing in terms of fees, but it makes transactions like this a whole lot simpler. I've never had this issue taking tournament entries through my business paypal.

Me either although this is only my second time... it is a business account and has been for over 10 years .... and their policy is as I stated. Paypal is totally sketchy (getting different answers every time I call) and I don't see a reason to put the onus on individuals to navigate this. I have been fighting them for weeks. Never again!

I've heard of increasing problems with PayPal across the board. It's the old, do a good job, get people hooked in, get the market cornered, then cut costs and treat your customers bad thing.

I have now asked for the limit to be raised 3 times with no success and at this rate I believe it will take 4 months to get all of the money from paypal, but this also remains unconfirmed as I have requested 3x for an itemized date and amount calendar to confirm this. I am now on my 6th case and 24th phone call. Take it from me, do not use disc golf scene.

I have further notified the PDGA and will let you know if I get a response or if I do not get a response.

This is a paypal thing, not a DGS/PDGA thing. Yes, they use paypal to process the transactions, but it is a paypal policy that doesn't impact every DGS user in the same way.

I think he understands that Paypal is the culprit here.
But the fact is that DGS needs to use Paypal and DGU does not.

I have never used DGS, but our clubs regularly use DGU and we have all been very pleased with our interaction with DGU.

I do - thanks - "I think he understands that Paypal is the culprit here."

DGU uses their paypal account then give you the money. Disc Golf Scene make individuals use their own pawning off the responsibility and opening up people to problems and risk. If you have a choice - don't use disc golf scene and tell your PDGA rep., this isn't good for the sport.

If you want new TDs and Tournaments and Organizations there are better ways.

The PDGA had to know this a few weeks ago when they bought this product. I don't get it.

Again, I'll be fronting this event 4k to fix this.

Hey - Adrian here. I'm the Admin for DGU - which is a product of INNOVA. We definitely handle money differently than DGS. We understand that most events may not have the tools, time or resources as a company... so here are some things we offer to consider. Both CC and PP options to players (Android & Apple Pay coming soon), the ONLY mobile registration interface, we take care of refunds for you, we have a automated PDGA lookup audit just to make sure fees get charged appropriately, and best of all a full time accountant, site admin, customer service rep, and website technician. You can call any time during the day and speak to me or an accountant directly 803-366-5028 or 800-476-3968. And you determine how to manage your funds. We can transfer to you via business check or ACH at no charge as often as you need.

Happy to field any questions here, by phone, or email (adrian@innovadiscgolf.com)
