Question Eco-Star Plastic. how is it. where to get it.

Hello everyone. First post for a 'new to the site' disc golfer.

I'm curious about the Eco-Star plastic. I've seen a few discs offered in this plastic but it's honestly hard to find. If I do find it from an online dealer the selection is very limited. At the BHMO tourny in Ohio a couple weeks ago they had a couple but were, of course, all special order with hot stamps.

Can anyone point me to a dealer that might offer several different discs in this new plastic??

Also, has anyone used the Eco plastic yet? Reviews, results, likes, dislikes.. ??

Thanks in advance and props to DGCourseReview for such a great site!!

I always check disc golf center and prime before I go anywhere else online, they help support this site that I love. I divide my purchases between those 2, and 2 other sources. The owner of Brackett's Bluff and the Charlotte DGC. That way I am supporting 2 great sponsors of the this site, and 2 locals that do a helluva lot to bring great disc golf to my area. That said I haven't seen much of the Eco stuff either. But I am really really interested in this r-pro wood stuff....esp in the Roc mold.

The Xcals are very domey in the Eco Plastic and are "poppy tops". Mine is quite a bit more overstable than normal Xcals.

I have also seen Wraiths, Destroyers, and recently Leopards being made in the Eco Star plastic

Recycled as in melted down plastic that didn't meet specs at the factory right? And also what type of plastic, just anything, or does it have to be star to begin with? I think I read all this once but I forgot.

This is all I could find about it:

Quote:
EcoStar Everyone needs a Mulligan every once in a while At Innova, we are trying to do our part. Eco-plastic reduces fossil fuel usage and saves landfill space for real trash. Eco-Plastic discs are molded from pre-consumer waste, not post-consumer waste. We take our overweight discs and other rejects and grind them. The grind is then blended and re-pelletized to produce Eco-Plastic. Currently all EcoStar discs are a recognizable mint green color and are made from 50% to 100% EcoStar material. The weight range and availability of EcoStar discs is currently limited. We are working to provide EcoStar in other disc models and additional colors. The reprocessed DX material has been used in Aviar Putters. The colors is a shade of brown similar to mocha.
So it does sound like there's some level of mixing going on. If I'm not mistaken, star is already a mix of pro and champ plastic, and it says that the dx is used for the aviars not for the ecostar discs, so it should at least be the same plastics mixed in.

Thank you everyone for the information. I'll definitely be checking out Disc Golf Center for possible purchases. I think part of my problem was that I've only seen it listed as 'Eco' not 'Echo'.

I too have a good local shop that I also need to check with. I would love to find a Leopard in Eco-Star. Been wanting to pickup one of those anyway.
