Default Nick Hyde Memorial May 4-6

GBO this past weekend has sort of made this exceptional tournament fly under the radar lately.

Time to start the chatter, spots available but lots of bombers signed up for a course that includes plenty of holes for them to let 'em rip.

Entrants include GG, Sexton (that FH will play great on the technical holes, Koling too), Gibson, McBeth and some kid named 'Eagle'.
This course bit him in the woods last year when I was spectating during Rd 1, and he lost his focus on one of the easiest holes, so he spent the next 2 days fighting back up into 9th (5th the year before). He's shown a MUCH stronger mental game and his FH is now among the best. He's likely the favorite but has not done awesome at Harry Myers.

Is this the course that has the big wooden star around a basket?

You are thinking of Veterans Park in Arlington and the VPO tournament.

Probably, there are more than a couple of those around DFW. This is the course that McBeth stunned everyone a few years ago throwing an over-the-top line and parking (drop-in no less) a 580-something foot par 4 hole 3. It's a Houck design, has rolling open hills and about 5-6 wooded holes.

Last year's video:

Right! On that windy AF section near the back of the park. I haven't been there since it was built. Doesn't Turner Park have a star-basket thing too on the back 9?

Isn't law that all DGCs in Texas have some sort of Lone Star motif?

I don't think Turner had anything like that but I have not played Turner in a long time, have only been back to Texas once in the last 6 years.

I can add a star framed with armadillos on Sunday before the round if there isn't already one...

Chance of thunderstorms on Friday, but for the most part this spring the heavy stuff blows over pretty quickly. Harry Myers has some low parts that can take a week or more to evaporate, but in years past the TD has provided relief from those spots. Saturday cloudy and Sunday looks perfect but the humidity from the previous week's rain may tax the players energy more than they expect, especially those travelling from colder areas.

Cell coverage out there is great, even in the woods. Anyone know who will be filming?

Anybody know what card Jomez is covering the first round since there isn't an obvious feature card...
