Default Sponsorship

Hello all! I have been training and improving my game for about 4 years now and am being encouraged by members of my local club to begin touring and strive for a sponsorship but I'm not sure how to go about that. I am signed up for 5 tournaments in the next month, I know how to do that part but I do not know how to begin the sponsorship conversation. Is it something in which I just have to perform well and hope to be noticed or do I reach out? It is a dream of mine to host clinics, I love teaching the game, is that something I would be to work into a deal? Any information would be extremely helpful, thank you!

Are you looking for a disc manufacturer sponsorship? Do you bag one company's molds exclusively or play with a mixed bag? Are you actively teaching clinics, or is it something you'd like to do?

Sponsorship, from what I have seen usually comes to those with pretty exceptional skill or exemplary promotion of the game within the community.

Win a few A-tiers. At least finish in the top 5.

You have to get on their radar. They're not going to come calling unless, like some have suggested, you get out there and win a few very high profile tournaments and make it impossible for them to miss you. That's a tall order.

Most companies have a team manager so the first thing you should do is contact them. Send them your resume and then keep them updated on what you're doing (good tournament finishes, community outreach like clinics or running tournaments, etc). They may say no to start but if you're persistent and truly deserving, they'll take notice eventually.

Promote you (your brand) on social media and share examples of how you promote the game and your passion for clinics. I have seen people who are <900 rated get some nice sponsorships on that alone. I would also recommend emailing a few brands you like, include your stats and your plans to promote in 2018. It will fall into place if you keep at it and follow up letting know potential sponsors your progress.
