Default Minneapolis DG Adventure

Getting a head start planning out a little disc golf vacation trip for some friends and myself. Each year we try to meet up in a new state and have a very casual small tournament. Probably play 2 rounds (day1), 2 rounds (day2) and 1 round (day3). This year it appears Minneapolis will be the destination with BRP and Vision Quest headlining the courses.

Any other courses within 30 miles of those courses worth a look? Looking for some fun to play courses for some intermediate/rec level competition. We usually pick a few top notch courses and sometimes mix in a pitch and putt or shorter, fun course in the mix. Will be using DGCR database and the old Road Trip feature to hit some courses on my drive from Michigan. Just looking for some fun/cool/scenic places to play near Minneapolis that may fly under the Course Ratings radar. Thanks in advance!

It's a little over 30 miles away (34 miles), but Bryant Lake Park was a pretty nice course when we made the trip a few years ago.

You'll want to do BRP and VQ same day if possible given that they're close to each other and nowhere near anything else.

Bryant Lake is a very well maintained course and would probably be a solid choice. I prefer the actual golf at Kaposia and Valley, although that may be because that's where I cut my teeth.

No shortage of pitch and putts to choose from. I kind of like the Zimmerman course, even though it has oddly short teepads. Quick, fun 18. Ham Lake would be quick if you're near BRP.

I don't get south of the cities too often so I'll let someone else suggest more stuff down that way.
As you narrow your list down post it up and some of the local could pitch in on specifics maybe.

Well Bryant Lake is now officially on the list.

Thanks for the replies. Will post more later as the trip gets closer and we start to lock things in like hotel and area we will be staying.

ham lake is a nice breath of fresh air after brp/vq (honestly, there are better free courses than brp/vq)

hit up the coon rapids course for great shorter but heavily wooded course.

lakewood is also a great mix of play.

If you want to swing my by area on your way to or from. I can't guarantee that bald/golden eagle will be available to play (but maybe depending on when). Though one of the most epic courses in the country may be available to play, and I might have several more holes built by then. Also may have a place for you to crash if need be. I always enjoy entertaining traveling discers if I get the chance.

Lakewood is fun.
That Coon Rapids course bugs me. The crowded, nearly overlapping fairways in the middle are a mess. Feels like they tried to shoehorn too many holes in. I dunno, maybe when it breaks in more.
