Hey guys, I started playing casually about 4 years ago but haven't played much in the last couple. I started getting into DG again during quarantine and have spent a lot of time in a field near my home practicing my form.
For reference I can throw my putters 240-260, mids 270-290, fairways 295-315, DD 320-350. These are rough averages as I can throw further (or shank short) on occasion when everything lines up perfectly but not consistently. Here is my latest form from this morning. I threw my 175g Teebird about 300 on this throw with a decent right to left headwind ![]() And some still frames ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some things I have noticed is that it seems my power pocket isnt quite there. It seems to me that my wrist is getting a bit in front of the disc instead of being on the opposite side of my right pec. It also looks like I am strong arming it a bit, although I do try to focus on hip rotation. If anyone could point out the most glaring flaws so I can work on them I would much appreciate it! Also if you could let me know where you think my overall form is at right now so I get a sense of what level I am at would be awesome. Thanks guys, Garrett Sponsored Links

You are opening up/rotating before you plant or shift, and end up going over top your front leg so your lead shoulder is also not working in a pendulum - it's going high to low finish/over top.
Your grip is probably nose up - otherwise you would likely be throwing into the ground. https://www.dgcoursereview.com/forum...57#post3440757 |

Thanks for the feedback Sidewinder! I can see what you are talking about with my hips opening up before I plant my front foot. I have had issues with throwing my faster speed discs nose up as well and losing a lot of distance so I think you are spot on with that. If you look at the progression pictures you can clearly see my disc coming at a slight downward angle and then swooping nose up in the final frame.
A follow up question I have is what should my weight distribution be as I start my swing by opening/rotating my hips? is the ideal form to have an equal 50% on each foot or should I have a majority of my weight shifted to my front foot when I start my swing? |

It's going to vary depending on your width of stance, but most of your weight should have shifted to front foot before swinging.
I don't really think about rotating my hips, it happens from bracing up against the swing to pump it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-zQt5H2Dw#t=9m9s ![]() ![]() [/QUOTE] |
