Default Good putt vs Bad putt

There's a few things I've been noticing lately.....things that I think contribute to my good and my bad putts.

Bad Putts

-Thinking about the last easy putt I missed. Might sound cliche but putting really is a very mental thing.
-Using just my arm out of laziness and not using my body to power the putt.
-Using my body but not extending with my legs and following through all the way, making me miss short.
-Thinking about how I could **** this putt up.
-Throwing weak and hyzer and hoping it fades in instead of just slammin chains.

Good Putts

-Step up and putt, no hesitation.
-Putting with force and authority, not limp wrist bitch throwing it, but not trying to gun it in with excessive gusto and having a 40' comeback putt.
-Clear mind, **** distractions, **** what I did 2 holes ago, just sink it.
-Having a nice "spring" or "pop" in my fingers / wrist as I'm coming up with my legs.
-Aim straight for chains **** throwing hyzer and hoping it fades in.
-Putting with the mentality that if I'm close enough to be putting at the basket, I am close enough to make it, period (this has helped me tons).
-Drive well enough that I can just toss my driver in

What about you? Do you notice any re-occurring problems you have with putting?

Nothing to add. You hit it right on the button.

Mike C, good to see u on the boards again! I've been away for a bit myself but I'm playing more and posting more too.

On to the thread topic...I start sucking more than usual with putting when I get away from my normal style and start trying something new and shinier. I'm basically a wrist putter from a staggered stance. When I forget that, the scores start suffering!

Those are the worst. When I bounce off the top rim of the basket I know I put enough on it to at least get it in the basket. When I miss low putts I get pissed off at myself and start to focus more, so in a way they're good I guess, but it's still annoying.

Bad putt; putting at the vicinity of the basket instead of a particular spot or link on the chains
being focused on your precise target but them losing it during your forward motion

Good putt; maintaining aim at the center of the basket before, during and after the putt (follow through)

After reading your Good/Bad points I think it comes down to confidence and not second guessing yourself. It does with me too.

I have to remind myself to putt it through the basket, not to the basket. If I try to just putt to the basket I miss short just about everything over 15 feet. It seems like some days if I don't think about my putting I do pretty well (for me at least), but some days if I don't think about my putting I just suck and do terrible. It helps when I park my drive within like 10' though.
