Classic Russell Schwartz L-shaped hole. The 2nd leg is uphill slightly. You basically lay up to the elbow then run a NAGS/jump putt. Terrible hole.

I haven't been there in years, maybe I can throw a thumber through the woods and just short-cut the dumb fairway now.

With the hole as described by BrotherDave, I would throw Kaxe Z to try and cut the corner, then a putt or two

L left? Or L right? It's tough to see any kind of fairway on the first shot. I'll probably throw a Buzzz or Comet.

Lol, you should see it in person. It L's to the right. If you look hard in the first pic there's a little sunny spot in the back along the right tree line, I think that's the opening. A lot of the holes on the front 9 are like this, weirdly cut narrow fairways through immature forest. If there was an appropriately sized FW so it isn't poke and pray or if the hole isn't angled stupidly or both they'd be par 2s. But everybody gets pars unless they get a lucky throw-in. There's not much incentive to actually try and get birdies on holes like this, high risk-low reward, b/c an unlucky kick buries you in a sapling forest so thick you couldn't turn around without banging a boner.

So this hole you throw a safe little flick, maybe try to skip around the corner a little bit and hope you don't hit a sapling stump so that you can have a clean run at the basket or safely jump putt for your boring 3.

Nice. I'm guessing this wouldn't be one of your top 5 in North Carolina?

Noooooo. It's not that bad overall but nowhere near top 5 NC. The woods are pretty on the front 9 and the back 9 has some holes that are pretty decent but it's one of my least favorites even in the Tobacco Road area. It's just another good example of a course accredited to Russell Schwarz where he evidently phoned it in or something.
