Default Am Worlds

Ok, so this is my first "year" of discing and I got 581 points this year according to PDGA...I think I heard that you need minimum of 500 to get an invite to worlds...with it being in mid-ohio I was thinking of going this year...IF I get an invite...now my question to you all...do you have to be current to get the invite? I read that invites go out end of feb? I guess I need some clarifying of this...also if you don't get the 500 point minimum how do they handle registration after invites? first come first serve? my buddy wants to go with me but only did 2 tournaments all year and doesn't have enough points....thanks for the help guys!

There is no official point minimum. It depends on your division and the state you are from. You need to be in the top 20% of points in the division within your state to get an invite. Invites will go out around March 1st but invitees will likely be posted online possibly as early as late next week. Those who don't get invites will be able to enter after about May 1 if the divisions are not full (and they haven't ever been by the open entry date).

dude doesnt matter if you get an invite or not. when it opens up to everyone you'll easily get a spot. and i suggest you get used to playing really slow!!!! to prepare for worlds.

P.S. Man i feel really bad for you. your parents named you Michael Myers...haha. you should show up to tournys with a mask and a meat clever in hand. that would totally mess with your groups head. lol

Did they tighten that from 25% last year?

The percentage will gradually decrease each year as the number of amateur members increases since the invites are limited to a rough total number. And within a state, if there are only 4 in a division, then 1fulfills either the 20% or 25% requirement. For some divisions though, like Legends, Grand & Sr. Grand Women and Juniors, all are usually invited.
