Default WI to NC

We're in a holding pattern while we try to figure out our vehicle situation. Ideally we hit the road tonight (heading into a winter storm), sometime this week we should be on the road anyway. No real plan or itinerary, would like to hit as many new courses as we can. Likely revisit some and visit with old friends.

What are the new courses that have popped up over the last couple years that I must check out? What are ones that I might have missed over the years? Bonus points for courses with camping (overnight sleeping in the van) allowed. Negative points for courses that don't allow dogs. Bonus points for private underground courses. Negative points for open long courses that make my arm and legs hurt. Bonus points for fun technical courses.

Knowing that, is there anything I should avoid? anything I should go out of my way for? Anybody want to meet up for a round?

If you get as far as Charlotte, and are there on a weekend, slip over the border and play Camp Canaan. Some constraints on when it's available, but absolutely worth it.

If you may get east of the Appalachians in Maryland, Virginia, or Pennsylvania I have a few recommendations for courses you have not played.

If your route goes near Chicago you could check out Walnut Hollow - https://www.dgcoursereview.com/cours...=10050&mode=ci it is a long course but most of the length is made up on holes 1-4. There is also a 6 hole course on the property- https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=10051

You could also take a look at the Silver Fox in Silver Lake, Wisconsin. - https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=7088

Looks like we'll get on the road first thing in the morning. The dealer is renting us a van for half price while ours is under warranty repair. Tomorrow looks like a crappy weather day, so I think we'll drive the entire day to get around/past the weather to somewhere relatively warm. Looking West central KY to TN. Then start playing and traveling East from there.

While I agree that Camp Canaan is destination golf, no dogs are allowed there. Just so you know. If your avatar pic is any indication, I'd have a tough time leaving that face at home, too.

If you're in Charlotte, definitely get Hornet's Nest on your list. Nevin is very close to Nest, so it's kind of a no-brainer if you have the legs for two back-to-back long-ish rounds.

Feel free to PM me if you're in the Queen City Saturday or Sunday. Always up for throwing and making new friends.

Thanks for the info. And, Matt, nevermind about Canaan.
