Default Bag switch League event??

So i just had someone mention this at leagues the other day. They said next week we are going to do a bag switch round for leagues.

I guess everyone will put their tags in a bucket. (Remembering or writing down what number they are). Top tag picks first and so on. They pick a tag and have to play with the corresponding players bag.

I have never heard of this. Is it common? It sounds really fun.

* no risk of losing a disc on the course we play

I'm showing up to league with a bag full of grooves...

Never heard of such a thing. Not sure I'd be on board. I'm not even that attached to my discs (well maybe a couple) and I cant imagine someone else disrespecting them or treating them better than I do..

I may loan a disc here and there. But there’s no way I’m letting my bag out of my sight.

Could be fun. Like others, though, I wouldn’t want to “trade” my primary bag.

Maybe setting a disc limit/requirement would help make it interesting/more fair, too. Say everyone brings an 8-12 disc bag. Hopefully that would ensure that nobody brings a Walmart sack with a three disc Franklin starter set in it.

I think I could really enjoy it. Of course, I might not want people to get to test my superior disc selection and let the cat out of the bag.

The only way I see it working is if there’s a realistic chance (say 50/50) you’d keep your own bag. That way no one does any of the “all crap” bag filling deals alluded to above.
Give everyone a number from 1 to whatever (even) number.
Then flip a coin or disc. Heads the odd numbers switch bags (and evens keep their own), tails the opposite (obvi).

Here's an idea I like better.

Everyone on the card brings their trusty ol' putter to use for themselves, then contributes 3-4 other discs into a community "bag" (make sure one of them is a turd). When it's your turn to tee off, you pick a disc of your choosing out of the bag, then your cardmates do the same. Any community disc you have in play is yours until you return it to the bag, either in exchange for a different disc, or your putter.

For added fun, keep a checklist of the community bag discs and each time a player uses that disc for the first time, check their name off on it. Require use of a minimum number of community discs (possibly all of them). For each disc short of your set minimum, tack a stroke onto their final score.

Bottom of the box carries the bag between holes.

Doubt anyone who plays has enough grooves to fill a bag. (I hope)
Unfortunately, folks likely wouldn't bring anything they liked either.
Most likely it would be a bag filled with nearly new discs, that were never really used.
Could be an interesting round, as long as there were parameters to the bag. Minimum; 1 putter, 2 midrange, 2 fairway, 2 distance.
No one wants to swap a light crunch box for a 30+ disc log with straps......

Make it 2 rounds, with the bag switch for one of them. Or switch halfway through the round. That way, the person who sabotages his own bag, will suffer with it too.

Though before the league jumps on the bag switch idea, they might pause and give a little thought about what stuff might be in the other pockets of some of those bags. They're not carrying just discs, you know.
