A straightish midrange, if you want to buy a single disc.

For more than that, get yourself a starter pack from any brand. These will be good discs to start with. (Try to play without the driver in the beginning. Only use the midrange and the putter, if you want to develop good form.)

I agree with the above comment that a starter pack is the right first choice. Then get on Youtube and watch instructional videos on the basics, which will show the various putting styles (and you work out what works best for you) and good throwing form. Then go out and have fun throwing discs into chains.

Agreed with the straightish midrange recommendation. Some examples: Dynamic Discs Truth, Discraft Buzzz. I'd maybe even recommend going with an understable midrange too so you can see the difference between a stable and understable disc within the same speed class. A Buzzz + a Westside Tursas would be a great two midrange starting point. And then just grab whatever putter feels the best to you for actual putting, and you've got everything you really need to disc golf.

I’m actually not a starter pack fan, but I do advocate getting very neutral discs to start. Feel some putters, you don’t want anything IMO with more than -1 turn or 2 fade, get a mid along the same lines and a fairway as well.

I’d look at these molds;
Putter- Aviar, P2, Wizard, Swan, Shield
Mid- Truth(regular one), Gatekeeper, Piwakawaka, Anubis, Buzzz
Fairway; Leopard, Centurion, Sipirt Fox, View, River

all you need is a neutral putter, neutral mid, and neutral fairway driver in baseline plastic.

sounds like a starter pack. i would highly suggest the Discraft beginner or deluxe set.

Pick up a Discraft Comet. It can function as a putter, midrange, and driver. It's the perfect disc to learn good form. It will take any line you throw it on to the ground. Comets can absolutely bomb with the right form. You'll keep the comet even when/if you get other discs because it's such a good litmus test for your form as you progress through the game.
