Fair enough. I always viewed the Mortar as strictly an approach disc. Obviously there are other uses but it's a true utility disc.

Three days, three rounds from the blues at Rockland: I shot 57, 63, 59. My goal is to keep it under 60 but it’s pretty tough to do.

Here’s what came out of the bag to play:

Putters:
171 Sirius Omega, nice and overstable
175 Sirius Omega, nicely beaten straight
175 Omega AP 1.15 (x2), putting putters

Mortar:
175 Recon 1.4

Midrange:
175 Champ Roc3, new

Fairways:
171 Champ Leo3, well used
174 Champ Leo, nearly new
175 G* TL3, new
175 Star TL3, new
168 Champ Thunderbird, nearly new
171 Star Roadrunner, well used
171 G* Sidewinder, somewhat used
175 Star Firebird, seasoned

That’s right folks, the Firebird was still in the bag. It came out for 2 throws in 3 rounds.

Grippenrip, I use the Mortar for placement drives, approaches, upshots and escape shots. I ought to start noting how often I throw each disc. The Mortar gets a lot of them.

I played the Land of Rock Blues again. I lost my towel on 18 and was frustrated enough by my 4 on 17 to play a round from the reds (I had to get my towel, right?).

I also tallied how many times I threw each disc that came out of the bag. I’ve got two rounds of data so I’ll post them separately.

Blues: score: 60

Putters:
175 Sirius Omega, nicely beaten (14 throws)
175 Omega AP 1.15 (x2), putts (25 throw)

Mortar:
175 Recon 1.4 (9 throws)

Midrange:
175 Champ Roc3, new (2 throws)

Fairways:
175 Champ Leo, nearly new (1 throw)
175 G* TL3, new (4 throws)
168 Champ Thunderbird, nearly new (1 throw)
171 Star Roadrunner, well used (4 throws)

Reds: score: 53

Putters:
171 Sirius Omega, overstable (4 throws)
175 Sirius Omega, beaten straight (9 throws)
175 Omega AP 1.15 (x2), putts (26 throws)

Mortar:
175 Recon 1.4 (3 throws)

Midrange:
175 Champ Roc3, new (1 throw)

Fairways:
171 Champ Leo3, well used (2 throws)
175 G* TL3, new (4 throws)
175 Star TL3, new (1 throw)
171 Champ Thunderbird, well used (2 throws)
168 Champ Thunderbird, nearly new (1 throw)
171 Star Roadrunner, well used (1 throw)

I’m pretty sure that all adds up.

So I really wasn’t going to play today, I promise. I took the dog to Rockland to run around and expected us to have the place to ourselves. It was 37 degrees and drizzling after all.

There was another car in the lot surprisingly. As I unload the dog the driver of the car comes over and asks, “is it easy to lose discs here?” He’s clearly a newbie. I say, “you got discs? Let’s play!” So that’s how I ended up playing today. I guided a noob at my home course. Apparently I like showing it off.

From the Reds: score: 51

Putters:
171 Sirius Omega, overstable (3 throws)
175 Sirius Omega, beaten straight (6 throws)
175 Omega AP 1.15 (x2), putts (26 throws)

Mortar:
175 Recon 1.4 (4 throws)

Midrange:
175 Champ Roc3, new (1 throw)
180 DX Roc, lovingly abused (1 throw)

Fairways:
171 Champ Leo3, well used (2 throws)
175 G* TL3, new (4 throws)
171 Champ Thunderbird, well used (1 throw)
168 Champ Thunderbird, nearly new (2 throws)
171 Star Roadrunner, well used (1 throw)

I wish I could have broke into the 40’s. I only had one 4 on the card today. My putt numbers are almost identical over 3 rounds now. I never 3 putted but I’d like to drop a few more putts off of a round.

It’s really just a way to remind me that putting is the key to my success. More than half my throws today were trying to put the biscuit in the basket. Obviously 7 more throws than necessary, lol!

The thing about putting is that it is hard to do
