Oh boy, where do I begin?
- No teepads or markings of a tee box what so ever. Start wherever you like and make each hole as long as you want to make it
-Does not circle around at all. Very poor course design.
-Holes 1-6 are all along Shobers Run creek. Literally within 5-15 feet of the water. Be careful.
-Goes across numerous football, soccer, baseball, and track courses. Beware of those and practices/games.
-I played on a Sunday. Access to the track area was closed, so holes 7/8/9 weren't playable.
-Basket #4 is completely gone. So it's now only an 8 hole course.
-Numerous baskets have brush grown up around them, or a large bush in front of them. Hole 5 literally had weeds growing up through the middle of the basket. I ripped them all out and cleaned it up.

As someone who grew up in Bedford, I was happy to hear that the school put in a disc golf course. It's a great opportunity to get younger kids involved in the sport if they're able to play during gym class or play a round after classes. This course seems like it was someone's idea, and the school board got on board to spend the money to build it, and then the idea was total abandoned once the course was installed. There's so much potential here, but the school board seems to have completely neglected the idea and doesn't care to maintain it any more. I'd love to see someone step up and volunteer to help maintain this course. I feel like if 3-4 people got together and spent one day cleaning this place up, it could be a decent little course worth of a 3.5 star rating.

I like that this course offers some longer holes which is good for experienced players with bigger arms, but if this course is truly aimed for middle/high school aged kids, it's not going to be fun for them if they're only able to make shorter throws. I get that they need to keep the baskets out of the way of the sports fields, but a majority of the baskets are literally tucked against the creek and are a death trap for discs.

Enough complaining, here's what I can comment on about each hole.
1 - Starts at the tennis courts and goes across practice football field. Basket is down in the corner by the golf course and Shobers Run creek. However, there's is a large brush growth all around the basket, making throwing into the actual basket basically not possible.
2 - Starts next to hole one, and goes along the creek back up towards the school. Is tucked in a corner, 5 feet from the creek. You won't see the basket however because there is a large bush grown up in front of the basket. Once you get past the bush, you can see the basket and throw in. Be careful, a missed putt will likely land in the water.
3 - Starts next to hole two, and again, follows right along the creek up towards the school. Makes a nice right hand turn to the green and allows for a good putt.
4 - This basket is gone. It's supposed to be by the tennis courts, but it was not there whenever I played (Nov. 2018)
5 - Starts at the corner of the tennis courts and goes up along the soccer/baseball field along the creek. Again, water in play here. This basket is only about 15 feet from the creek, however there is a large brush pile of old Christmas trees and large rocks behind the basket,to prevent putts from going in the water. There were weeds growing up through the basket, however, I ripped them all out and cleaned up this basket to make it playable again.
6 - This is a super long hole (600-700' I'd guess). Starts by hole 5, and follows the creek clear up to the bridge at the road. Again, water can be in play here. A fun hole to play if you have a big arm.
7 - I played on a Sunday and the track area gate was closed, so I couldn't play holes 7/8/9. However, from what I can see, this hole goes across the entire length of the high school girls softball field. The basket is literally against the fence at the foul pole in left field. If practice/game is going on, forget about this hole.
8 - I couldn't see this hole, so I can't comment.
9 - I don't know where this hole starts, but the basket is literally 5 feet from the fence at the road. So if you were to overthrow the basket, you'll have to walk outside the gated area to get it, and hope that it doesn't land on the road or get run over.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this course to anyone unless the school takes the time to clean up the baskets and designate some sort of teebox area. If you're in the area and want to put in some field work, it's good for that, but that's about it. I wish the school would put a little effort together and make this course great, because the potential is there. It's a shame to see those wasted tax dollars being overgrown by brush.

First offense is no tees. This is a major problem, but just the tip of the iceburg. The basket locations are horrible, design is pure insanity. This "course" breaks every rule when designing courses for students while being unsuitable for players of all skill levels as well. The course does not loop. It starts by the golf course ends ON the track.

1. I was standing 10 feet from the basket and could not see the basket. It was overwhelmed by weeds. Starts way over by the golf course.
2. Basket was close to the water. It is not a horrible placement for recreational players, but a huge mistake when school kids are your target audience.
3. Basket is ticket in a corner lot. Thick nasty foliage surrounds 2 sides of the basket. Again, not a big deal other than being boring for players, but this will cause the school lots of lost equipment, wasted time for the kids, and require the teacher to spend time after school searching for Discs.
4. After 30 minutes I simply gave up. Never found it.
5. Overwhelmed by weeds. Surrounded by burdock bushes.
6. Directly in front of the road. Not an issue for average players since a hill is behind the basket, but if the defense of the other design issues is that this is a kids course, this is a major liability.
7. This basket is literally inside the fence of the baseball field. It makes disc golf a liability even when no disc golfers are present.
8. Basket is between the track and baseball field.
9. Basket is inside the track! Seriously it is 15 feet from lane 6. No matter where you create the tee, this hole is unplayable. And there is a fence behind the basket that is so close you can touch the fence and basket at the same time.

Someone local needs to offer the school money for the baskets so they can purchase portables. This course serves no purpose to the community players, does not suit the physical education goals for disc golf, and has zero maintenance.

Don't plan on playing during the week. This course uses too much of the other school activities areas.

I get a little jealous when I see a course located right by a school. I don't think there is a better way to introduce new players to the sport than by this type of setting. Being that I didn't start playing disc golf until after college, I would've loved the opportunity to play any time I pleased right after school. While nothing too solid, the course here at least provides newer players in the area a chance to learn the sport.

There is a surprising mix of hole lengths, ranging from 239-652'. Three par 4's - the shortest of them being 590' - give you the opportunity to really open up here and gives the students a quality chance to learns how discs fly.

Many holes play near a creek, some playing alongside it and others having it weave around the basket for a scary approach.

Being on school grounds, the grass was very well maintained and I imagine this is always the case.

Multiple mandos making the wide open shots a little more interesting.

The biggest issue is that - understandably so - there are many other activities that could interfere with a round here depending on when you play it. I happened to be there during softball practice, which makes holes 7-8 dangerously close to interfering and 9 unplayable. Most of the rest of the course plays in and around soccer fields, tennis courts, etc. I would only stop here in the summer months, but even then you could run into some issues.

The course is confusing to navigate without the traditional intuitive paths or signs pointing you to the next tee. Use the map provided on the site.

Natural tees are hard to find with small stone markers.

The woods/creek section isn't well maintained and is very thick with brush. This part of the course would be a lot more fun if maintained, but isn't well suited for beginning players.

Completely flat and mostly open, so nothing too exciting if you are more advanced than a beginner.

I wouldn't recommend coming too far out of your way to play here. Being on school grounds, they didn't do too much to separate the course from other activities. You could run into issues at any given time of the year, so don't come here expecting to play the whole course. If you are in the area, I recommend playing at Shawnee State Park instead.

Good use of the land considering its on the grounds of a Middle school and High school.

Ridiculous placement of several baskets. A few holes have the baskets literally inside of the woods with no paths or anything to get to the basket.

Alot of the course was really messed up due to construction. Took over and hour to navigate the course without playing. Tee boxes are non existent so you just have to make up your own. Leaves very much to be desired but overall i could say i atleast enjoyed myself.

-A few of the baskets are still up and can be used for practicing one's putting.

-Construction is going on and overgrowth has taken over this course.

-The course looked like it had some potential but missing multiple baskets and no visible tee pads currently.
I was bummed out when I drove and found this out, but only 15 minutes away is Shawnee State Park where there was 9 playable holes, so it wasn't a total loss.

Since this is an opportunity to practice putting currently, I give the course a 0.5 instead of a 0.0 even though its unplayable as a full course.

The good-qualty map is essential ...

... because the small, in-ground stones marking the natural tee locations would be nearly impossible to find without it.

Due to a football practice, unable to play #1 (they were using the field), #4 (they parked all about the basket), nor #5 (they parked all about the tee area).

Baseball/softball games would prevent 7/8 being played. Track meet would prevent 8/9 being played.

Basket 6 still missing. Basket 5 nearly overgrown with neighbouring bushes.

Flat as they come.

Wide-open hucks on 1,6,7,8,9, while 2-5 make you work on your touch/right-turn game.

Difficult to recommend for a traveller, because you'll never know how much of the course will be available for play.

Interesting use of space. A stream comes into play on the first 6 holes. Providing plenty of thought when your approaching. The stream adds character and beauty that few 18ers could rival. There is also plenty of length with 3 holes around the 600 foot mark. The green for hole 3 is phenomenal....a peninsula surrounded by a healthy but not disc eating deep creek. There is one tight hole (5) to counter all that ripping. Plenty of danger upon approach here with fences, running track oob, streams, and tree guarded greens providing a delicate shot. I actually threw a lot of drives here at full throttle. Many of the shots were right turning which made things interesting. A few risk/reward situations such as hole 4 with alternate paths to pin and all the risky oob. POrt-o-potty and close to highway. Best play would be a Sunday morning or any other non school/non sports event hours. Set in a pretty little pennsylvania town in a picturesque valley. The best holes are 1-5.

It's completely flat despite the surrounding mountains. Tees are natural grass with simple stone markers (which work based on low volume) A high percentage of throws favor lhbh or rhfh without any true rhbh/lhfh holes to counter. The most glaring weakness is that the course plays throughout the athletic complex. Hole #1 across a practice football field,Holes #4,5 skirt a tennis court area and hole 6 flies across the outfield of a softball field.(6 was unavailable as of May 2010 due to bridge construction) THen it gets really hairy as hole 7 plays directly across a baseball diamond, hole 8 basically is a hyzer over a different baseball field and hole 9 finishes by throwing over an entire track and field complex over the track 2x and across the infield of the 400 M track before finishing your day. Holes 6-9 could potentially cause huge conflicts. There were people walking the track and the damage a disc could do to a maintained baseball infield as well as a person could jeopardize the course.

Played during the right time this was a fun and surprisingly interesting course. If I was a local I would play the first 6 holes then play them backwards and forwards and back to make a perfectly balanced lefty 6 righty6 lefty6 righty 6 24 hole circuit w/o the silly danger of the final 3 holes.

I played this course thinking that it would be a simple pitch-and-putt experience since it's on the grounds of a high school. I certainly didn't expect so many water hazards or mega drives in the excess of 400-500 feet. Ultimately, however, it's still a typical high school disc golf course and has its limitations.

The most idiosyncratic element of the course is the water hazards. Holes 2 and 3 are anhyzer throws that have pin placements dangerously close to a small creek! Even a putt with too much zip on it will send your disc swimming.

The first, sixth, seventh, and ninth holes are wide open holes of decent lengths and test your arm strength and the effectiveness of your distance driver. The first hole is a good place to practice your roller shots.

#6 is a massive 652 foot drive playing parallel to the creek. Can you focus on hurling you disc this far without worrying about it going in?

Water hazards notwithstanding, the course doesn't really have much in terms of variety; it's also very, very flat. Hole #5 is the only "wooded" hole on the course, and plays a short 239 feet with some tree obstacles on the way to the basket.

#9 plays over the school's running track. I found this one to be quite awkward and it seems more like you're playing safari than a true dg hole. Another problem with this hole is that the basket plays very close to the road, and an errant throw will be going into traffic.

The natural tees are not the best for footing, and there's virtually no signage telling you where to go. Study the map before you go and you should be fine.

Since this is a school district course after all, athletic and school events will most likely relegate this course to weekends and the summer. In fact, I think this would be a great summer course because I'm sure that creek dries up in June-August!

As a high school teacher looking to implement a disc golf club/team and course on my own school's grounds, I found this place to be an enlightening field trip. If the humble Bedford High can make a neat course like this, any school can! All in all, I think they used the available land well and balanced the mundane nature of the constant open-air throws with water hazards and chances to air out your throws. If the school would scrap #9, add nicer tees and signs, and include a few more wooded holes, this would be one one heck of a place to play!

Easy to access off of US 220 in Bedford, PA. In a nice area. Lots of places to eat very close-by in Bedford (That one's for you Greg.). There's a porta-pottie beside tee #1. Brand new Innova chains. It's only 15 minutes from a totally different 9 at Shawnee State Park.

Length that will let you really grip and rip it on a few holes. I got to throw five 100% tee shots and three nearly 100% "driver" approaches. In spite of the open ground that makes up a lot of the course, the pin placements make your shot selection important. There are several right turning holes that really make this "RHBH" player work to get close to the pins. So there are opportunities for me to throw a forehand (if I learn it better) and rollers too.

A creek comes into play along several fairways and pins. Pins #2 & 3 basically sit on peninsulas and the proximity of the other pins to fences, the creek, etc. make accurate approach shots critical. You have to work your tee shots & approaches around the OB blue track on #8 & 9.

Because of the available ground, the course is almost totally flat and there's only one hole that would be called "wooded." In different sports seasons, the whole course could basically be unplayable since it plays around, on and over practice and playing fields.

This course was basically set up for a school disc golf club and I think that this is fantastic. In spite of some of the limitations posed by the grounds, I really enjoyed this course a lot and will defintely play it again and again. I was fortunate and had the designer as a guide the first time I went around. (Thanks B.) I would definitely print the map to help find your way around the course. Or P.M. if you like.

Highlights: #2 & #3 pins are lot of fun to get close to without getting wet. #5 is the only wooded hole and it gives you several routes into the pin. #6 for the sheer joy of getting to rip two 100% drives.

If you're driving along the PA Turnpike at Bedford, you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to play this course. It's only about 5 minutes into town.
