Hole 7 8 and 9 are so overgrown, almost totally unplayable.

This WAS a 9 hole course in an apartment complex. Well they build a new section taking out the first 5 holes.

Hole 6 was a sweet downhill shot, but no basket and very overgrown (I played to the new electric poll)

Hole 7 was a nice uphill hole with the basket on the side of the hole. There was no line because it was so overgrown

Hole 8's tee box is still in great shape, but you can't see and have no line to the basket, it is in the woods overgrown.

Hole 9's tee box is still there but you have no direct line to the basket, I threw to the side of the apartments, then back to the basket that is laying on the ground in the big rocks.

Basically, this course is no more.

-Good opportunity to practice short, technical shots off the tee, especially in spring/summer when tress are full.
-Easily accessable, lots of visitor parking and never crowded..
-Creative shots despite over all lack of space.. there is very little to work with.
-The course has a decent flow and is easily navigable.
-Tee boxes are solid, even gravel pits, all are numbered.
-Nice new baskets, all numbered as well
-Lots of ace potential, many birdie opportunities, and plenty of interesting putt approaches
-Plays very quick, even with a bigger group

-Lack of upkeep.. there is considerable overgrowth on some parts of the course that can be uncomfortable to traverse. I reccomend wearing high socks or light pants if you dont want to have your legs itching
-All holes are short and technical approach style shots (200ft max) which will be dissapointing if your looking to air out some big drives.
-Layout is segmented with holes 1-5 on one side of the apt complex, and 6-9 at the other. Would be nice if the course played all the way through 1-9 smoothly
-Hole 9 has a high barb wired fence running along the right side, making the hole very risky.

Hillside Ranch is a fun, short course that tests accuracy over distance.
It is by no means a professional level course, and lacks many standard features like signs, benches, etc.
This course is not worth traveling to, but if you live in the area its worth checking out, and serves as a nice warm-up before playing the texas state campus west park a mile away.

Baskets are nice. There isn't much to call a "pro" here. No hole requires anything to be thrown other than a putter, so feel free to grab one and play with a single disc.

No upkeep on the plantlife and overgrowth. It's a spikey jungle full of cactus.

Not worth playing unless you live beside it. Maybe not even worth it then....

All holes are short so it is pretty easy to score well on this course which helps boost your confidence. Good course for beginners. Tee boxes are still pretty new so not too worn out. Easy to navigate once you know that the last four holes are on the other side of the apartment complex (not that long of a walk). The baskets are new DisCatcher with double chains. This course can be played in under an hour easily even with up to five people.

There is a good amount of cactus so watch out for that. Tee boxes are gravel so they can get a little slippery. No real chances to test your distance unless you add a made up bonus hole which I usually do at the end from around the ninth basket back to hole no.7

This is a great course for beginners since the holes are not too long. Even if you shank your first drive, it is usually an easy approach shot to get close to the basket for par. It is also a good course for seasoned players to work on their finesse game since most of the lines are pretty technical. It's a good course to warm up on before playing the Texas State Course since it is literally 2 minutes away.

*The baskets. Nice, new, Innova Discatchers with barely a scratch on them.
*The tee pads. Raised pads formed by cross ties, surfaced with gravel, and numbered.
*The elevation. Elevation changes on almost every hole, some of them extreme. The course plays up and down the hills around the perimeter of the property.
*Technical shot practice. All of the holes are very short, I would say none more than 250 feet. All also have multiple trees, brush, and sometimes fencing that will force you to hit precise lines. (Of course, two or three of the holes have a decent spike hyzer line and I suppose if you like to throw overhand shots you could do that on every hole.)

*The course is VERY short. They did good things with the space given, but it is very little space.
*The layout. Holes 1-5 are separated from holes 6-9 by a long walk and hole 9's basket is on the opposite side of the apartment complex from hole 1's tee.
*The unfriendly lines. We played in January without leaves on the trees. I can imagine the lines becoming extremely tight when the leaves are on the trees and the bushes have grown a bit. Also, a couple of holes involve a definite possibility of throwing a disc over high fencing where it would be difficult to retrieve.
*The question of how private the course will be. We parked and played and no one bothered us, but the course is advertised for apartment residents only. I don't know if this will become an issue.

This course would be a dream for a beginning disc golfer living in these apartments. It would be a great place to practice putting and throwing upshots on various lines. I think for most players reading this board, it might be a course to check out if you live close, but it will not be worth a second visit. If you go, travel light. A Buzzz or Roc, a putter, and maybe a driver to throw overhand or on a spike hyzer line is all you will need.
