Great Little Course Fir The Family! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

This little 6 hole course sits in a corner of Ketchum Park. It's easy to find as it starts right at the bridge when you drive in. If you somehow miss the bridge, the skate board park and disc course are next to each other. If you can't find the skate board park, you probably won't be able to find the course or hole 1 or your keys.

The course is like a real course only micro sized. The six little holes are all between 110 and 127 feet, I think. The signs are perfect for this course, they're small but do give you the hole # and distance. There are no Par 4s. The baskets are a pretty shade of green Prodigy models. The tee pads are natural with a front board. It doesn't appear there will be much traffic here.

The area off the small fairways is fairly rough with lots of poison ivy so be aware. The fairways are mostly tight with trees lining them.

Each hole is an Ace in waiting. Most players will play this course with a putter. # 1 does require a little anhyser shot. The following five holes are straight.

Cons:

For the clientele playing here, the rough can be problematic. For anyone who's played before, you have no business being in the rough.

Watch out for the poison ivy.

Not for serious players but perfect for a course bagger.

Other Thoughts:

As we drove up, there was a group of about eight playing, a dad, two mom's and like five kids. Two of the little girls were about 5 or 6. They were having a grand ole time. My playing partner had some spare discs in his car and gave this group some of his throwaways. Probably made their day.

So, to summarize:

Great course for course baggers.

Ace Run competitions.

Beginners.

Family play.

Local elementary students.

Players looking for their first Ace or just wanting to rack up a few more.

Rating this course is interesting. I know we should rate it with how it compares to other courses. But, Ketchum Park DGC could be placed in the micro course competition. So I'll give it a 2 with a big wink. If you come and play, just be informed of what you're getting, fun and hopefully a couple of Aces.

Good Putter Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Easy to find course in a nice park. From the parking, walk to the small bridge you crossed over to get into the park. Tee one is right there.
-Easy layout to follow from hole to hole. They have markers up/around to help you, which is impressive for such a small course.
-Great place to take someone who's never played. Short, controlled shots is the way to play this.
-Great place to learn how to throw your putter. If you need to work on disc control through 100 feet. You shouldn't lose a disc here, but there are plenty of trees to kick off of and force a par instead of an easy bird. 2 of the 6 baskets are right of the tee, which gives forearm upshot options, or can teach anhyzer shots.
-Nice locals. This means something if you've ever been around bad ones.

Cons:

-No tee pads, but you can tell they're planning on expanding. They have flags/markers down with numbers showing where they want to put in more holes.
-Park runs next to a creek, and when I visited the water was almost overflowing onto hole 1. It's set high enough to hopefully stop this (as it did), but you could show up and be half underwater.
-Not much challenge here for advanced players, BUT you really need to have control of your upshots if you want to get all 6 birdies. The tunnel shots provide enough of a challenge.

Other Thoughts:

You have to take this course for what it is. I think the world could use more courses like this to allow avid players to bring first time friends along and not embarrass the heck out of em. If you're a very talented player, this is a SKIP or an Ace race.

If you need to work on your upshots with your putter, this is a great place to go. I, for one, need to work on those shots, and played through this course 7 times in about 30 minutes.

Teeny Tiny 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 22, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Aesthetic-- As it sits at the time of this review. This is a six hole 721ft cavalcade of fun. You are by a sidewalk at some points so I'm sure you could run into non-dgers.

Baskets-- Never thought I'd say it but I love the Prodigy baskets... Super catchy, very much like Arroyo Vortex baskets. The bright green is nice and visible.

Tee Markers-- little 4x4's with a number and distance on them. For what this course is, these are great.

Routing/nav-- super easy, never a doubt, but arrows on the trees are helpful.

Cons:

Challenge-- none really to speak of. The first hole throws along a creek or river so I suppose you could tank one into the drink if you're not careful. I brought two putters, I could have brought one. I aced #6 with a Clutch.

Tee areas-- dirty scuffs, adequate for the most part.

Other Thoughts:

Interested to see where this one goes. The park is IMMENSE and this is just a little corner. I do hope, however, that this little six is left alone for beginners and whatever is to come on this course is all new.
