Pros:

Ample parking on site of a very nicely maintained golf course
Pro shop where you can get beer and they have some tourney stamped disc for sale.
The course itself is a beast. It's very long with obs here and there that can come into play
Hole 1 is a perfect example as it's a 350 peninsula green with ob on both sides. The teepads are nice concrete pads. Tee signs are nice and descriptive, with hole length and obs
Baskets are in good shape and there's a good mix of par 3s 4s and even a big par 5
The course is very well designed and most the holes out here and big bombers with a few tight wooded holes thrown in
Water can come into play and there's a few water shots

Cons:

Rec and novice players won't enjoy this course for the length factor
15 dollars a round with out a cart is kind of steep for disc golf "was worth it though"
Can get a little soggy in some areas
The clubhouse said on busy days you only get 2 hours to finish a round...with a group of 4 that's probably not going to happen.
Not much in the way of elevation change.

Other Thoughts:

The lakeside course plays pretty back and fourth and in all honesty I don't think a cart will save you much time. The other side was closed due to wetness, but this place gives a great place of disc golf. No really iconic holes to me besides maybe the par 5 but this course is more on the 4.25 side to me and I wish we allowed quarter rankings here. Overall worth the play and cash to play at least once.

Disc Golf with a golf cart=awesome 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great tee pads and signs, OB is clearly marked, distances and pars are accurate and reasonable. Tees are concrete and have extra grip undulations at the front half, which is a great touch for in the rain.
-Baskets are super high quality disc catchers that are bright blue, vibrant enough to stick out, yet they blend in and don't distract from the courses aesthetic.
-Fairways are amazing, which is to be expected on a hybrid course.
-The Rough is surprisingly good, I thought that there wasn't going to be much difficulty with getting off line, but the rough is actually rather punishing.
-Elevation is awesome, great mix of side hills, down hills, up hills, no hills etc, and the best part is you don't really have to trek up and down them because you're in a golf cart!
-Trees are used quite well, most holes are fairly open, but trees come into play on most tee shots, and almost every green, which adds a good amount of challenge
-Very easy to navigate, tees are easily located and are easy to get to.
-Water comes into play on occasion, but in a good way, the water here is the kind that makes you decide between running it or laying up, which brings a very fun aspect into the game.
-The location of this course is very pretty, there are tall trees all around and beautifully manicured golf fairways.
-Big variety of shots, some monster flicks, some monster backhands, as to be expected, however, more unexpectedly, there is tons f opportunity for fairways or minds off the tees of some holes, especially to break up really long holes into smaller safer bits.
-You can drive a golf cart, which is super cool, this means you are relatively fresh for the whole course, even though it's super long. This also means there is a place to put your bag and water etc, which is great.

Cons:

Not many cons, this is an excellent course, but I'll come up with a few anyway.
-I played on a weekday during my summer break, which is totally the way to go because there aren't many people out on the course, but, on busy days it could be super challenging to manage the flow of golfers and disc golfers at the same time.
-The price is pretty high, about $20 per person if you want a cart, don't get me wrong, it's very worth it, but still. And, this is a golf course, they need to make some money, so the cost is understandable and reasonable.

Other Thoughts:

An awesome course, I drove out from the Seattle area to come play and I'm already planning a return trip. You've got to come play this course.

Beautiful! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course on a ball golf course is absolutely beautiful! The "Lakeside" 18 plays along 9 holes on the ball course and the newly installed "Canyon" 18 plays along the other 9 of the course. Lakeside has permanent concrete teepads, baskets & signage, the Canyon has temp teepads & signage but permanent baskets (sounds like concrete teepads are coming within the year). The holes are typically in the treeline along the course but cross the fairways, so although there are some wide open shots the trees can come in to play on most of those shots.
The staff are very nice and welcoming to disc golfers, and many golfers share the course well. It is even conducive to golfer/disc golfer combos, I've gone with the father in-law playing the links and myself throwing discs and it worked very well!
If you live in the area get yourself a membership to West Sound Disc Golf Association and you'll get a free round each month as well as discounts on each round. During the spring, summer and I believe fall, there is doubles every Friday @ 530, $20 will get you a round and a cart rental.
Being your big arm and get out here!!

not your typical Northwest course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 3, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Wide open Golf Course fairways. Challenges are pad locations and basket locations, oh and length of holes. Full Pro Shop.
Beautiful setting. Hole 15 awesome water shot. You can rent a cart with walking is a problem.

Cons:

Maybe the cost. $10 dollars a round unless your a WSDC member then it's 5. I rated the course 3.5 because you have to pay to play. It is worth a higher rating.

Other Thoughts:

You play on the same course as regular white ball golfers.
Some may not be happy your there. But we experienced no problems what so ever. Could this be the future for Disk Golf?

Horseshoe Lake DG 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great place to 'air it out' even for noodle arms who want to practice their drives. Beautiful place to play, several par 4's and a 990 par 5. Permanent baskets have been installed. Working on the T's. Only $5 for WSDGC members. (join up)

Cons:

If you like wooded tight fairways then this isn't it. Yet, it is a fun course. The layout of the ball course kind of forced many rt forehand or lefty shots. Gives you a chance to work on your forehand or right turn shots. Plenty of places to go OB - not sure this is a con. Just forces you to be careful.

Other Thoughts:

Go for it. You will enjoy your round.

Wowser! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 16, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I have played here when it has been set up for the Kitsap Classic (27 holes), the regular 18, and the new roughed in 18 hole course (Will review later). This is one of the most enjoyable places I have ever played. The manicured course, clubhouse, parking, and whole atmosphere are wonderful.

I have played a few ball courses with disc golf also incorporated but this was by far the best one.

The course is rollee pollee and has much tighter fairways than most ball golf courses I have seen and played on. Because of this it gave the course a much more legitimate feel. So many ball courses, that incorporate disc golf, are just distance throwing contests. You just need to stay off the greens and out of the sand traps. No real line shaping at all. Not here! On the 18 basket layout you play shots downhill over a pond (15), work through the trees (12), and the 1020 footer that goes downhill with a pond on the left, OB cart path on the right, and backup hill (11). Many of the disc golf putting greens are put into places where they will make the putt an honest one and it will challenge you, especially 9 with its drop-off behind the basket. Several others will give you nice putting greens but you have to get to it first.

They now have large concrete teepads that are well placed and installed properly.

The whole area is scenic and a pleasure to see.

The folks at the clubhouse are nice and the food is great. It is sure nice to be able to walk off the course and have a nice bathroom and a good meal afterwards.

You can use the carts but when it is muddy they can get stuck. This is the Washington Olympic Peninsula and it does "rain" here.

The ball golfers here seem to work very well with the disc golfers. The ball golfers do have the priority but if you are on the fairway first then the disc golfer does.

Cons:

Not much really to say as a con. While they do use the fairways and the edge of the woods A couple of holes that were "true" line shapers would be nice. I am something of a purest and while this is real good disc golf I still would like at least a couple of holes that don't use the fringe of the fairway but are in the woods.

Other Thoughts:

I like this place and will play it each time I am in the area.

I do not consider the fee to play an issue. This is afterall a business. So to pay a small fee is no bother here.

Are You Ready To Play Some Long Ball? 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 21, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

With a 990' par 5 and seven par 4 holes measuring at 645', 555', 620, 600', 600', 700' and 550', totaling a whopping 8295', Horseshoe Lake certainly qualifies as a long course. It's probably the premier disc golf course that I've played on about the 20 different golf courses which incorporate disc golf, too. The course is lovely, green and well manicured. There isn't much elevation to contend with although water does come into play on 3 or 4 holes. The 50 discs in the pro shop which were fished out the ponds verify that water, does indeed, come into play.

Cost to play is $10 per round or $15 for all day. West Sound Disc Club members pay $5 per round. A cart cost $15 and you'll be glad for that expenditure. Business seems to be booming as we played on the first sunny warm day this spring (April 22, 65 degrees) and I estimate that there were about three times as many disc golfers on the course as those regular guys.

You mostly play from the same long tees as the golfers. The fairways are surprisingly tight for a golf course and with many of the cart paths OB and some added OBs (such as # 9's fairway), for us scatter armed players, OB always seemed to be lurking close by. Splish, Splash!

The tee signs are laminated temporary ones. At least two, showed that the basket placement had been moved back 60 feet, both times adding 120 more feet to this already longish course. The baskets consisted of some temporary models and these lovely dark blue models with the wide bands. They showed no name but I believe they must be Discatchers.

# 12 was one of the few holes where accuracy was most important off the tee. Here, you are trying to throw through a 30' gap between trees which are about 50' from the tee.

On the 990' # 11, a pond on the left might come into play about 600' down the fairway.

Signature hole? I guess I'll have to nominate # 15. It's just 270' but most of that is carry over a pond with the basket sitting about 30' past. It's probably not that difficult but it definitely provides the pucker factor for us rec players.

Cons:

The grass tee areas could be slippery if wet and might become muddy with enough use.

$10 per round might discourage some players.

Many flat and open holes aren't totally ideal for the disc golf game.

I really didn't care for the fairway being OB on # 10 but I think I understand the reasoning behind this decision.

A majority of the baskets were set up, just off the fairway, on the right side. Only a couple were on the left side. I understand that the guy who places the baskets is a lefty!

Other Thoughts:

if you throw 350' plus, then you're going to like this course a lot. Rec, senior or younger players may be a little less impressed. Because of this, I was torn when rating this course. To the 24 year old player throwing 400', Horseshoe Lake is a solid 4.0. To an older recreational player such as myself, I give it a 3.5. I'd love to split the difference and award it a 3.75 but Tim doesn't allow that so I'm going with my heart (arm) and awarding Horseshoe Lake a 3.5.
