- It is a really nice park with nice facilities. There are indoor restrooms in the pavilion near holes #1-#3.
- There is some effort being put into this course. Brand new concrete tee pads on most of the front 9.
- City employees were friendly. I know that the city has interest in providing disc golf for the community.
- Looking at this course in a vacuum, it was decently fun. It isn't super long, but you have to throw some different lines and you get to see the disc fly, which isn't always the case in East TN.
- If you are in the area and want to play tournaments, several are offered here throughout the year.

- Navigation is horrendous. There is no board with a course map or any markings signifying that you are at a disc golf course. The start is hard to find and not intuitively placed in relation to the parking lot. There are no tee signs. There are only tee pads on a handful of holes. The other teeing areas are marked with dull blue paint.
- Safety concerns. Hole #2 is blind and finishes close to a play ground. Turn over or grip lock a RHBH on #3 and you are throwing into a playground. You have the opportunity to throw into a tennis court, over a basketball court, and into a swimming pool. There are benches near baskets and baskets near parking lots. I have a hard time seeing this course being playable on a nice evening or weekend or even a summer day.

I don't want to dump on this course too much because I know that the local disc golf community is working to improve the course and the city is open to listening. And the course play itself isn't terrible.

However, given the location, the navigation and safety concerns, and the number of great courses in Knoxville, Morristown, and the Tri-Cities, I have a hard time recommending this course to anyone that doesn't live in the immediate area.

-If you simply look at hole design and take nothing else into consideration, this is a good course. It strongly leans toward the casualty spectrum as it is short and runs through the entire park. The park itself is very neat with a nice topography. Has a fishing pond, playground, tennis courts, a pool with a 12 foot deep end, and is in the middle of the city next to a big lots store.

-I enjoy the start to the course. #1 is over the pond and nearly halfway up a large and steep hill. Hole is short but accuracy is crucial for a secure birdie. It's only 195' but uphill and often leads to a scary putt because of the pin placement. A birdie is a great score here. #2 and #3 played on top of the almost seemingly terraced hill. The top of the hill has some rock croppings and has a small little dip where #2's basket is. #2 is a memorable short hole being blind off the tee. Slightly uphill and back down over the dip.

-Some real shot shaping requirements. The fact that's short and mostly open doesn't mean it doesn't have relevance. It has a lot. I looked at the pictures, and it looks too easy and open but it's better than I expected. #5 is a tight uphill wooded shot. #7 is a very tough par three that's kind of in its own league for this course. It's through a very tight group of trees from the open. Does give a big anhyzer option around the trees. #8 is a very fun valley hole!

-#18 was a nice ending being the only longer hole on the course at 413'. It's slightly downhill between the parking lot and the road to the right. There may be risk in landing in the parking lot but chances are, there won't be many cars there. Brings me to mention that there is a good amount of parking here.

-Nice attraction. There's a performing stage on #11 that some of the best musicians have performed on. Such as Brad Paisley! I'm not a fan of modern country, but I am a fan of some of the older artists like Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Lonestar, and a few others.

-Navigation is terrible. I could navigate thanks to U disc but it still isn't easy to navigate with the app. There's no signage. You'll see pale markings on the ground but they aren't really visible unless you are a few feet away. There's no hole info and the numbers on the baskets are vaguely marked in white.

-You often tee off on paths, or the edge of a road. #15 has you teeing off in a parking lot. Vaguely marked "do not park". Other safety hazards as well. #9 is too close to the basketball courts.
#10,11,13,16, and 17 have you playing along the walking trail. The parking lot is close to #18's green. To sum up, The Ville runs through a lot of the other recreational park activities. Course doesn't have much of its own space.

-No actual bathrooms. Just port a johns. Personally, I'd just walk the fifth of a mile over to the Big Lot and use their bathroom and purchase something. At least they have a sink at Big Lots.

-This is a pretty fun little layout. It was fun enough for me to play a second round. I'd rate it higher if was marked a lot better and if there weren't as many safety concerns. Usually, I rate a course strongly toward how I feel about it and if I really love it, I'll undermine some of its issues. But navigation and safety were a very serious problem here. The course itself is maybe a 2.5 and I considered giving it that rating because I thought the holes here were funner than the holes at Whirlwind (a course I gave a 2.5). The effort put into Whirlwind as far as signage and safety was a lot more evident even though it's not to me, a fun course.

-I will say though, The Ville is pretty fun. Signage would for sure, be a turn in the right direction and make locals enjoy this course. It's a great starter course, but people that are new to the game won't want to constantly look for the next tee and that problem could drive them away from a beginner friendly course such as The Ville. It needs signage so that players will have a better idea on what disc to throw.

Rogersville City Park DGC is a nice little course that is easily accessible by surrounding cities. This course is mostly open with some nice shot shaping holes. You start out by throwing over a pond on Hole #1 and then from there, most of the holes are short holes with the longest on the course being just over 400 feet. For the most part, no big distance drivers are needed for this course, mainly just a mids and putters course. While it is very short, it is definitely a very fun layout to play. If you are in the area, grab your mids and putters and head out to Rogersville City Park for a fun round!

While Rogersville was settled in 1775, this tiny town with ties to Davy Crockett finally has a disc golf course after nearly two-and-a-half centuries of existence.

Nestled in the city park, The Ville DGC features several fascinating holes and starts with a picturesque challenge on Hole #1: A 191-foot toss that requires throwing over the pond and up a steep grassy hill. Hole #2 is the shortest on the course but isn't a gimme at 156 feet. The basket isn't visible from the tee; it's tucked into a little rounded valley guarded by a huge tree with a steep hill looming on the right.

Holes #4 through #8 nicely utilize space away from most of the park's traffic. Hole #7 is 300 feet and possibly the most challenging hole on the course, as the tennis court fence (and mando post) form the right side of the fairway while several menacing trees guard the basket. Hole #8 is a fantastic elevated, over-the-valley shot. The course peters out a bit on the back nine but concludes with a fun finish. Hole #18 is the longest hole at 413 feet and includes an elevated teepad with roads lining both sides and a stream bisecting the fairway.

I played about a dozen rounds here in 2021-2022, and the course was always in near-excellent condition.

The course design at The Ville makes good use of the space available. Even though several of the holes occupy adjacent space and the design feels a bit shoehorned, there's good variety, including some elevation.

Navigation is a bit challenging though it has been improved with the addition of rubber teepads on some of the holes in the last year. Several of the holes utilize the natural concrete in the park, so you might have to squint for chalk lines in some spots. Of course, not all the rubber teepads are level so there's that added challenge.

The course utilizes park space, so there's the possibility that other activities, park goers and occasional events might interfere with playing the course. Hole #11 plays in front of the city park stage.

Holes #13 through #16 seem a bit redundant; even though the designs are different, they are all adjacent to each other. And Hole #16 is a bit weird. It's only 162 feet but finding an easy non-roller line might be challenging, especially during the summer.

Rogersville is a bit off the beaten path. The nearest course to The Ville requires at least a 20-minute drive. But for disc golf fans in Hawkins County, this new course fills a void.

The diversity and design for The Ville is above-average for a city park course. With a hole length average of just under 250 feet, this course will be a lovely spot for family disc golf and beginners, and a "deuce or die" location for more experienced disc golfers.

According to the city website, there are plenty of recreational activities available at the Rogersville City Park, including tennis courts, walking and jogging trails, a children's playground, fishing, outdoor basketball, horseshoes, baseball and softball fields, a sand volleyball court and the public swimming pool. If the park is too crowded for disc golf, there are other enjoyable options available.

Tee signs are wooden stakes with only a hole number and distance, but many of these are missing.

With no sign board/map, casual park users will not know where to start. Tee #1 is marked only by 2 spray painted lines on asphalt at the corner of the pond;There is no number, stake or distance painted there.
Mowers or vandals probably account for the many missing stakes, but they could never be a viable long term solution anyway. It has the feel of the course having just gone in with permanent markings soon to come, hopefully this is the case. My rating would definitely be higher for better tee areas and signs with hole diagrams and distances.

Good beginner course for the area. Similar to Laurel Run or Borden Park.
