First Attempt. First playthrough on any course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 20, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very open course. No water hazards. Benches for resting. Parking is close to course beginning.

Cons:

Not really a con because this is the first course I have ever played. Had trouble on hole 6 due to inexperience and length of green. Just could not overcome anhyzer on throw. On both playthroughs I ended up in the trees on the left.

Other Thoughts:

The weather was perfect: 68 with a light breeze and sunny. will revisit this course soon.(Only 5 miles from my home)

Rated A 4.1 On UDisc 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 6, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

(1.276 Rating) A simple short park style course to learn the game on.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - An ideal beginners course with simple obstacles on most holes and even one hole that is obstacle free. Overgrowth is limited to areas along the left and behind basket (3). Disc loss possibilities will be limited to forgetting to pick up. Lots of birdie and par potential for Novice level players.
- QUICK PLAY - Very bagger friendly as it will take just 20 minutes for most solos. Not too far from Interstate I10 either.
- MAINTENANCE - The park was very well maintained on my appearance.

Cons:

Too basic and too bland.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - This course will be disappointing to higher skilled players looking for a demanding layout. An even par score might only bring an 820 rating. Pretty much no technical challenge. The longest hole is only about 300 feet and several are under 200 feet.
- UNIQUENESS - I threw a putter or mid on seven of the nine holes and I can't backhand over 325 feet. Every basket can be thrown at within a couple degrees of straight ahead. Few trees define the fairway edges and the elevation change could be measured in inches.
- SPACING - The fairways edges are undefined and jammed together. I personally had no trouble staying on target, but newer players will surely throw in other fairways.
- CHARACTER - Other than good baskets, the basics of tees and navigation are poor and the extra amenities are not present.
- NAVIGATION - I only reason I didn't have a lot of trouble was because of the open landscape. The only navigational cue on this layout is the numbered baskets. Seriously, how much effort does it take to sharpie a paver with a number. SMH.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - The ginormous trees are cool, but that's it. I scored the course a 2 out of 5 where 2.5 is my average score for beauty for all the courses I've played to date.

Other Thoughts:

I was extremely disappointed by this course. There were no ratings on DGCR, prior to my visit, so I had to go with unreliable UDisc ratings. A 4.2 on that site, until my score dropped it to a 4.1. Extension Park barely offers the basics of the game. Skilled players in the area would only be able to get field practice by playing here. Great however for local families and newer players. As for baggers? As always, this is a must play course.

Road trip interstate stop 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 19, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Not far and easy to find from the interstate. Nice stop to stretch the legs and play a quick 9.

- Baskets are very nice with the hole numbers and 4-H symbol.

- Walking trails if others want to walk while you play. One is small and goes around the course.

Cons:

- Only has a flat concrete square step stones for tees and not very easy to find. Had to use the course map on most holes to find where I was going next.

- I'm a beginner and I felt like it was short. But I guess it's better to have a short course than to have no course.

Other Thoughts:

- Pretty straight and open course with some low trees.

- Grass in the park looks to be well maintained.

- Some markers 4x4 post for the tees would help make you not feel lost.
