Pros:
-Concrete Tees
-Baskets OK
-Quiet County Park
-Cool shot through large tractor tire (#3)
Cons:
-Minimal upkeep, #4 - #9 are wooded and overgrown
-#6 is almost unplayable from the tee (overgrown)
-About a 1/2 mile walk from #6 basket to #7 tee
-Longer walk back to where you parked
-Signage is small diagram of hole (no distance or par)
-Disc loss is a possibility here with the narrow fairways
Other Thoughts:
Siems County Park hosts a disjointed, mostly overgrown course just outside of the Whittemore, IA. At one point, this might have been a decent course, but mother nature is taking a large chunk of it back. The course starts with two mostly open holes. #3 is kinda cool with a shot through a large tractor tire (mando as far as I could see). From there, the course is all narrow, windy through sections of trees. The worst is #6 where there is a large bush blocking about 3 feet off the front of the pad. I've added a map as it took me a while to find #7-#9 (past the north end of the campground). The last 3 wind down some OK paths, but still not decent DG fairways. Signage is hand painted, but only a diagram of the hole, no par or distance info. The course needs some love to open back up the fairways and maybe a signage upgrade to make it worth a stop to other than baggers. A little out of the way for me, I'd play it and curse a little if I was camping here, but otherwise, skip it.
